I can’t find anything that says she was acting under a stage name.

I was surprised to learn that she’s from Long Island, NY like me. And she still lives here part time.

The website I linked to says they reprinted some British Trek comic strips in black and white.
I can confirm that Trek #5, #6 & #7 each reprinted a 2-page segment of the UK comics. Three 2-page segments from the 1973 storyline later dubbed “Shell Game” were printed out of order (part 7, then part 9, and finally part 8) in those three issues, in glorious black & white.

@MAGolding, didn’t you write for Trek back in the day?

Ah, so they only republished British Star Trek comic strips. They weren't British themselves. Got it.

I think what we have here is a failure to communicate. As someone who read a number of Trek magazines and Best of Trek books back then I mostly remember the text parts, articles, letters to the editors, fan fiction, etc., etc., and remember comics as only a minor fraction of the content.

Your statement that: "...they only republished British Star Trek comics strips..." could be interpreted as meaning that the only comic strips in Trek were republished British Star Trek comic strips, which seems to be correct unless there were some other comic strips. But it could also be interpreted as meaning that they only thing they published was reprinted British Star Trek comic strips, which is certainly not correct.

I apologize if I misinterpreted your statement and overreacted to it.

Yes I did.

According to Herb Solow from ‘Inside Star Trek’, Roddenberry told him he just hired Andrea Dromm because GR wanted to score with her.
Ugghhhh!

I totally agree.

Yep. Nimoy was important as well, of course. But honestly it all started with Shatner. The combination of loads of charisma, convincing physicality, and the ability to do both comedy and drama was just incredible to find in one actor.
...

I think you also underestimate Nimoys importance. No matter how good Shatner we probably wouldn't be here talking about TOS today if Spock wasn't in it, or if Number One was Kirk's first or Rand.
Saying that Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura were all very important. And I agree that Shatner really was amazing - dynamic, charismatic, funny, serious.
I also doubt Star Trek would be today if say Jack Lord was cast as Kirk

No, that wasn't my intention at all. Nimoy was fantastic. But he was very open about admitting that he didn't enjoy the physicality as much as Shatner, who threw himself into it - quite literally in many cases :bolian: - and he wasn't quite as well-suited as a romantic lead, whatever the revisionist history on that has been (like the stupid, anti-Shatner Spockfanservice line Jadzia has in Trials and Tribble-ations).

I think you're saying that both of them were needed to create the magic. And I think that's right. But if Shatner hadn't been brought in, I don't think that Nimoy would have had the space he needed to create Spock, and Spock might have been the shouty guy he was in The Cage and that's it. I'm not attempting to elevate one over the other really, just saying that when they found Shatner, it all clicked. Think of him as the final piece. (And them later discovering how utterly great Doohan was didn't hurt either.)
