Thing is, some of the earlier Geordi figures had a removable VISOR, meaning they had a mold of him without VISOR anyway.
ISTR the reason there wasn't a La Forge was because LeVar Burton objected to the First Contact sculpt. Not sure if that's true. The best solution for Geordi is to use the All Good Things figure's head, and paint out the grey highlights. Makes for a perfect Insurrection/Nemesis version of La Forge.
Loved these figures as a kid - and I still do. Never got a hold of the TNG Bridge, so, a couple of years ago, I went ahead and build my own. And after that, my DS9 figs looked at me pleadingly and I build them an Ops too, haha
Awesome! I remember seeing these a couple of years ago. Ops is amazing! And the bridge with a ceiling makes all the difference. I'd love to try something similar, but doubt I have your skill sadly. Riker's constant waving cracks me up. What was with that hand?
Here's the link: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/nc-man-finds-defiant-toy-on-sale-in-walmart.278641/ It was actually North Carolina.
Those are awesome. I had the TNG bridge playset. It was pretty cool even if the scale was off. Was disappointed the TOS bridge never made it past the prototype stage.
THESE ARE SO AWESOME! How did you make them and how long did it take you to do so? Oh and can you make me them too please?
Playmates messed up with the first season uniform figures. They got the shouldering right but the kept the two piece waist band from the later season figures. Plus the first season phasers were supposed to different. I was always a stickler for details.
I wish I picked up some of the DS9 figures. I think they were some of Playmates best work. Would love to have Quark or Morn in my room.
Never bought Morn, but Quark is an awesome figure. His facial expression alone is great. Tons of fun Thank you =) It took me two or three weeks to make the TNG-Bridge. Ops was done in a week. I just took floorplans from the original sets (they are easily found on the Internet), scaled them up to playmates-size and drew them on a large sheet of paper. Once you have the dimensions, everything else falls into place (the TNG-Bridge turned out too small, though, but Ops should be about right). I can offer this little making-of for the Ops. It's mostly just for the lulz, but it should give an idea on how it was done
That's awesome! Nice to see Joe Carey and Seska helping out the Chief. Did Sisko ever get his office?
Pretty sure that's the Nagus action figure. I don't think that's Quark, because Quark was not that wrinkly in the figure mold.
I'm going to add to my head canon that Carey and Seska served on DS9 at some point early on. Seska was undercover as a Starfleet officer before the Obsidian Order ordered her to join the Maquis, thus why she was granted an officer's rank right away when she ended up on Voyager.
It must be The Nagus. The pictures of those figures gave me more pleasure than watching the actual Ferengi episodes.
It's the definitely the Zek figure. Playmates made Quark, Rom (plus a tiny unposeable Nog who looked like a five year old) and Zek, plus the original TNG Wave 1 generic Ferengi who was based on Letek from The Last Outpost.
Those couple of years (2369-2371) must've been pretty weird for an Cardassian Obsidian Order agent posing as a Bajoran Starfleet officer "secretly" showing interest in the Maquis. I wonder if she and Garak got along? Or maybe he just minded his own business, as I'm sure DS9 had like 60 spies living in and around the station at all times.
