My guess is that a (few) people are quite furious--but are insignificant in number so it's all much ado about nothing.

Once the movie came out and those same jackasses kept making hater vids, even the commenters told some of them to stop whining.

    Perfectly serviceable Marvel movie.

Difficult to compare Larson to the other Marvel leads - she's up against some extraordinarily charismatic actors who've really owned their parts, it's even tricky for her to top their first movies (for a fairer comparison). I found her a bit flat and lacking in the aforementioned charisma. Snark is not character - that's a writing flaw and unusual for Marvel.

I attribute it to her "Kreeness" but maybe I'm too forgiving. She seemed much more a better character after she realized she was Human.

That was the point. She didn't start to display her human personality until after arriving on earth and questioning her past. Then it became a more dominant trait as the movie progressed.

I think it had less to do with Earth's influence than the absence of Yonn-Rog chiding her every 5 mins.

Honestly, I'm not sure what movie most people were watching because Carol was very much the wry, flippant jokester of the team. Sure, it's a rather dry sense of humour, but it's there.

Meh, who cares? Aside from whiny YouTube vlogger 42383423 (aka a "Real Lawyer")?

Meh? I don’t have 16 minutes to listen to him drone on. But to each his own!

He has some great videos breaking down scenes from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, most recently the court episode which has a bird attack.

I'm not in a position to watch a video right now even if I wanted to, so - what part of Captain Marvel is even relevant to a 'real lawyer's' expertise in the first place?

His channel is taking scenes from shows and movies, usually involving court cases or law and using his experience to explain or show what’s wrong.

In this case, some men are claiming that Captain Marvel attacked this guy unprovoked. He points out that he met the legal requirements to be charged with assault and battery, explaining those exact requirements and why they’re used. He also points out that the scene is a homage to a scene in T2, which no one uses to attack the Terminator as a villain (at least in that film).

The guy invaded her personal space, touched her or something she was in contact with in an unwanted way, made what could be implied as a threat and then she defended herself which she was well in her rights to do. Not so much taking his clothes and bike, but it’s supposed to be like the scene in T2 when he gets the bike from the asshole biker.

At that point in the film, the Terminator is a killing machine that had yet to learn the concept of morality. John teaching the machine that this kind of conduct is not OK is a major story arc of the film.

That's a great point that I've made myself, but for the first time I'm wonder if it's drifted from 'homage' to "cribbing" and we are supposed to intuit that at this point, Vers IS an inhuman (Kree) killing machine that only knows Kree morality, which is basically kill of enslave everything that isn't Kree.

Earth wasn't even important enough to have a name, only a catalog number, so killing the inhabitants wouldn't have been against what Yon Rogg had been forcing on her.

I don't recall a single person giving Peter Parker shit for stealing (and wrecking) Flash Thompson's car in Homecoming. I wonder what the difference could be?

This lawyer got the release date of the movie all wrong, so I therefore discredit everything he has to say.

The bay/good guy who requisition a vehicle is a trope old as the cinema itself. But I am at a loss to understand what could be the difference too...
