I liked him as Rafi on The League.

Gonna miss this show for the music choices alone.
It's always a trip. Like reading classic era Morrison Vertigo.

Goes to show time travel never goes according to plan. David, despite some bumps in the road, reaches his final destination but Switch is severely injured. He manages to connect with his father and tells him much of the future (or least his future, or one side of his future). But David is becoming more and more Legion...

Syd, Kerry, and Cary successfully follow them but find themselves on the other side of the planet, at baby David's doorstep, ready to consider the Hitler paradox. But they aren't the only ones there...

Farouk of the past has sprung his trap for Charles, but David is there to help this time, hoping to change the course of time. But then Farouk of the future shows up...

Not much happens aside from lots of table setting and time hijinks and moral pondering, but like all great Legion episodes, it's all about the style and not so much the substance. The real meat of the situation will be next episode, the final episode. I'm not sure if Noah Hawley can close out the his extraordinary and bizarre and brilliantly mad show to a proper close in one last episode, but I can't wait to see what happens.

It's too bad we didn't get more of Oliver & Melanie this season.

Like I said in my previous post, I wasn't sure if the Hawley would be able to properly conclude this series satisfactorily but I have to say that he largely did. However, I have to say it was awfully ballsy of him to actually go through with changing the past (albeit not in the way we viewers expected) thus changing the future and essentially wiping out the entirety of the series as never happened. I can't think of any other show that has done that (unless you count St. Elsewhere...).

Having future Farouk reach out to his past self and teaching him the lessons he learned living inside David's mind was a turn I didn't expect, but it was a welcome one. I much preferred that develop over a big battle between the Farouks and David and Charles that seemed to have been predicated.

With all of the moving parts going on, I also didn't expect we would gett closure for Switch and her brief character arc, but I was happy to see I was wrong. Elevating to a higher being might be cliché these days, but I liked how it played out here with Switch reconnecting with her father and finally understanding what she has been doing her whole life (she was just losing her baby teeth!).

One thing I wasn't sure about: Switch addressed Syd, Gabrielle, and baby David about what would happen to them but ignored Kerry and Cary. Kerry remained old after everything but what happens to the two of them in the future? Were their pasts rewritten, too, considering David's direct correlation with their adult lives?

I loved that as well! A wonderful sequel to season 1's incorporation of "Breathe." It's a shame season 2 didn't have a Pink Floyd moment.

Yeah, so the finale involved David going back in time, along with Farouk and old Farouk told young Farouk to be a good guy, he agreed and then they all sang koombaya. That finale in a nutshell.

I have a lot of thoughts on how this all turned out, and not all of them are good. But this show was always a fun ride at least.

It certainly didn't end the way I thought it would. I was expecting a big reset, but I figured it would all be in David's head and he'd come back to in the mental institution. I enjoyed Mother. That was really well done. I'm happy Farouk got out alive as he was my fav character along with Oliver and Lenny. The ending, overall, did feel a bit meh. I guess it's just my hatred of time travel. I'm definitely looking forward to rewatching though. Hopefully we get another series too

We won't get more of this particular series; it's a done deal.

Now that Disney owns Marvel and the FX channel, what's in store for the future of the character?

So they just let Farouk be? He can go back to his murderous ways?

There was an article, maybe in this thread, with a Marvel peep that mentioned there is a chance they could do some more. I doubt it, but who knows.

    Edit: here's the article...

Farouk was odd this season, they didn't really explain his redemption very well. They did better with Lenny but then dumped her halfway through.

Everyone was kind of like that, like why did they bother to bring Ptonomy back? It was odd that Cary Loudermilk was heading operations. Legion has always been out there but I think this season it was probably too self-indulgent for its own good.

The ending was OK but I felt by that point it was basically a foregone conclusion that they were going to down the reset path they had been steadily painting themselves into a corner towards. Sometimes I think maybe I'm just not smart enough to get it all but I think there was a considerable amount of Noah Hawley just pulling stuff out of his ass (as my dad is wont to say).

Thanks for the link! Yeah, that doesn't sound very hopeful for Legion --at least not this version of it.

I'd be surprised if this version of Legion had any more legs, it was such a unique take on the material and with such a distinctive style that does not easily mesh with that Marvel house style that we've seen. Noah Hawley also has a Doctor Doom project he has been trying to get of the ground so I think he's probably ready to move on as well. Besides, the season finale really put a final note on the story, where could they even go from here that wouldn't be like starting from scratch anyway?

So was the fish in the ear thing a Hitchhiker's reference?

You're probably right. I'd love to see Dan Stevens play David again but this is pretty well wrapped up as it is. Of course, that David would be a totally new character since they hit the reset button on his life.

Undoubtedly! I feel like they've done that reference before in one of the previous seasons.

Three seasons and they end with a time travel reset. Disappointed but not surprised.

Farouk's redemption, and the part where he showed his younger self his 32 years of experiences through David, was the highlight of the episode.

    That, and this:

    "I'm a good person. I deserve love."

    "No you don't."

I just wish it was Syd who said it.
