Unusual Opinions

I've always been loathing TOS-Kirk.

Sorry, @rhubarbodendron , but I checked the rules, and that's a bannable offense. I really apologize, but my hands are tied.

 ;)

Dunno about rotten tomatoes scores, but I like loads of films that are generally considered unpopular.

I'm probably the same way. I'm not really up to scouring RT right now, but I like a lot of things that other people don't. I tell people that it's because I'm easy to please, because that sounds a lot better than "I have no taste"!

I don't get, I find it a bit annoying, when people complain when in movies & TV teenage/high school characters are played by people that are older than that. That happens so often, that is so much the default, typical thing that happens that it's at least not worth complaining about, you should be willing and able to suspend disbelief and if the actors are even decent actors they will make you do so.

For good movies/TV and actors in them, they make me suspend that disbelief most of the time so much so that I rarely even think that that yeah sure they really are/probably are older.

I have a complete aversion to smoking. So much so that when I see someone smoke ahead of me on my morning run I take a detour around that person as wide as the pathway allows and I run fast around them while holding my breath. I don't even care if the person is offended.

I wouldn't consider that unusual. I guess it depends on how normalized smoking is in your area.

Well, I guess there are still quite a few smokers around here. I guess it's the downside of the countryside. It seems to me that the percentage of smokers was noticeably lower back when I lived in a big city. Of course, In the city, you have other sources much more deleterious of pollution of the air.

I know some people with asthma related issues can have serious reactions to smoke.

I respect the opinions of critics in finding new stuff to watch or listen to but I don’t like Rotten Tomatoes. I prefer an average based system like Metacritic. I don’t get why you wouldn’t make a distinction between a critic saying “This is pretty good” and “THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER!” RT makes film criticism from something nuanced into something binary.

Also I never ask people for recommendations. I ask what their favorites are. I trust your opinion more than I trust your opinion of my opinion.

I tend to go more for independent/arthouse films, unusual among my circle of acquaintances.

Arthouse films can be very good but often they can also be very bad. It's like contemporaneous art. Sometimes it's just nonsense.
