Why Doctor Who is a MESS

Hmm, Plenty of sci fi out there on aliens and there sex/mating habits, and pregnat stuff, even in this years season, we saw the pregnant guy on that hospital ship.. so evedently that speices male carries the baby..
Or maybe, the female gets pregnat, and then gives it to the male to carry.. I mean, getting down to the nitty gritty.. one sex has a "Depositer" and one sex has a "receptical" and usually the recpetical carries the baby.. Kangaroos weird baby carrying habbits come to mind to.. ( no snikering.. just trying to explain)

I think Queen Liz and Rose would have noticed any...gross anatomy differences.

Doctor Who has a belly button.

Even if they are loomed, the Doctor is not a clone, unless the cloning process creates a belly button.

Maybe the belly button is where he was grown from his father. Just because it looks similar to our belly buttons doesn’t mean they act the same way.

Rose inhabited his body. She was expecting alien, granted, but I expect she may have mentioned anything remarkable. Would have been worldbuilding of exactly the kind you are desperately attempting in.

Or maybe she was to embarrassed to look or mention.

I guess we know the first thing you would do if you switched bodies: make a run for the bathroom and check out the genitals.

Wouldn’t need to. Like most living beings I would feel the difference. As did Cassandra

One of my favourite Isaac Asimov stories is The Gods Themselves, the middle portion of which includes a race of aliens with three genders and a quite detailed description of their mating process (plus some references to what would be their version of masturbation)

The three genders are:
  • Rationals (or "lefts") are the logical and scientific sex; identified with masculine pronouns and producing a form of sperm. They have limited ability to pass through other bodies.
  • Emotionals (or "mids") are the intuitive sex; identified with the feminine pronouns and provide the energy needed for reproduction. Emotionals can pass freely in and out of solid material, including rock.
  • Parentals (or "rights") bear and raise the offspring, and are identified with masculine pronouns. Parentals have almost no ability to blend their bodies with others, except when helped by one or both of the other sexes.

Well, I saw this on Twitter. Not sure it means anything. Just wondering if they are floating this as an idea?

Are they passively looking for Jodie's replacement? How many years out do they typically do this?

I’ve never seen it done by official sources before. Even DWM doesn’t tend to speculate much. But I don’t follow the accounts, so *shrug*

Even if they were looking to replace Jodie Whittaker (which I don't believe they are) they're not going to turn to Twitter for suggestions on who the next Doctor should be.

That's true but Asimov was always a bit of a puritan in his writing - very little sex at all. This particular story was a rare exception. I suspect because it was so alien compared to human sexuality.

I think I gave up the Rama trilogy in the third book, largely because of the sex, because Clarke...wasn’t like Asimov.

Well, I follow them, and a few other Whovian related accounts. There's one on twitter who posts a lot of production art, sets and designs which helps me in chronicling Time Lord Tech for my art books. Highly recommended if you're into such things..

I don't know. Just seemed odd, as I don't recall the same being done while Capaldi was in tenure. Just thought I'd pass it on. If I see other stuff of interest on Twitter, I'll relay it here for discussion.

No. I suspect they wouldn’t.
But I can see them using it as a focus group on the sly.
See, thats what I was assuming, because ive been following them awhile now, but never before had I seen such a message and its specifically referencing a new Doctor, so I felt it could be worthy news to report. Only time will tell. But I would be very supportive of a Sean Pertwee Doctor. Especially if he gets to play it his own way. Nepatism isn't a concern in this instance because the respect would be there for him, given his work on Gotham, his career thus far and his father's reputation.

I am pretty sure Sean won’t touch it.
But they do get a nice easy list to analyse until they end up on ‘they probably want a young attractive male doctor next time. With dark hair.’ Because that is probably how it would pan out. Never underestimate the love of Tennant in the social media active corners of fandom. Or Smith. XD
It’s the way if you did this in the nineties, you would focus group down to a tall chap in his forties with curly brown hair and possibly noticeable teeth.
Hell...they almost got their way in the Dark Dimension.
