New Picard SDCC Trailer

How dare anyone not fellate dear leader Kurtzman and accept dogshit lazy writing as the best thing ever.

Dude whatever. Those of us who are critical of the new shows are always insulted, called close minded, idiots and Midnights Edge cultists and you mods do nothing to keep the conversation civil when it's Disco fan brigade insulting us only intervening when we snap back.
I've been civil and written in-depth critiques of what is wrong with the writing and plotting of these new shows and what do I get "lol stay mad", "what an idiot who says everything wrong" and where are you mods with the warnings then?
Expecting those of us critical of the shows to be civil when all we get it snarky disingenous shade thrown at us is a bit rich.

I think The Old Mixer meant saying "fellate" one day after we got porn GIF bombed by that troll dude bro. I don't think they meant "Stop passionately making your point." Rather "Let's all of us cut down on the sexual imagery for a few days."

You’ve done nothing of the sort. All you’ve done is bitch about how much you hate Kurtzman and Bad Robot, the latter of which has nothing whatsoever to do with Discovery and Picard. So stop playing the “long-suffering victim Trek fan” card, ‘cause nobody’s buying that crap.

Just saw this trailer today and the emotion I experienced upon seeing Seven show up out of nowhere was the exact centre point between euphoric elation and crippling panic.

By loading up on all these existing characters, the writers are really putting the pressure on themselves to deliver something simultaneously recognisable and "Star Trek-like" while also meeting the demands of the evolved television climate. I really hope they can do it.

Maybe ones that had the actual trailer playing in the video.

But of the youtubers I follow that did videos, none of theirs have been taken down.

You're confusing Jefferies and Franz Joseph.

Also that Tech Manual inspired UFP logo appeared again in Season 2, so either someone didn't get the memo, or CBS settled that issue with the logo between the seasons.
MY BAD ... I corrected it.
Was only half awake this morning when I posted that. :alienblush:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Gees, Losta negative vibs going on around here lately.

As I have said in the past, I have absolutely no say in what kind of Trek show THEY are going to make, so for me I'm very happy THEY are making ANY Trek show.
(especially numerous ones again)

My expectations are never so high that I can't enjoy whatever They create.
If They make something I don't like, I just won't continue to watch it.

Life is too short to spend a lot of time bitching about something so trivial as a TV show.

I'd rather embrace the things about the show I do like than let the things I don't care for be the dominant factor of any interesting discussions I take part in.

And even if there was enough that Fuller can cry foul, WGA certainly has channels to settle this sort of thing far short of a lawsuit. IIRC, Fuller decided to leave (perhaps after some gentle encouragement from CBS?) because DIS was taking too much time away from American Gods and his other projects.

RMB is great with Fan Films, but considering how long he stayed with the Axanar dumpster fire before finally leaving, I'd take anything he says with a huge grain of salt.
Kurtzman seems pretty confident in developing the franchise the way he sees fit; of course CBS is paying for it so the studio execs would have to approve anything costing money, such as, just to bring you one example, entrusting him with a ~$180* million TV show with A List actors as well as Star Trek alumni designed to bolster the CBSAA platform.
In addition to the animated series currently in development and a potential third live action show.

RMB did great work doing DVD bonus material for TNG and other projects. He has been bitter about Trek since he and Bryan Singer pitched "Star Trek: Federation" and it was shot down. He has a history of backing the wrong horses.

Bryan Singer--Fired from Bohemian Rhapsody last year. One insider told the trade that on the set of 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, Singer was “emotionally very frail” and would arrive to work late and unprepared. He would allegedly cry if his behavior was challenged. In addition, he had constant visitors, “people flying in and out of town, put up in hotels, all on his dime,” that insider continued. Given all that, “I was kind of shocked when they went forward with Rhapsody. How many at-bats do you get?” No current projects/unemployable reputation.

Alec Peters--I think we all know the history there. Currently involved in multiple lawsuits.

Bryan Fuller--Let go/fired from his last 4 projects. Discovery/American Gods/ Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles/ Amazing Stories reboot. No current projects/unemployable reputation.

Singer has never really emotionally recovered from the sexual assault allegations a few years back and now is having to deal with new ones.

I use to be very into older guys (among other things) in my much younger days of sexual adventuring.
I truly have a feeling that the guys accusing Singer probably were also very much into what was going on at the time and weren't "forced" into anything, but are now having second thoughts/survivors remorse for whatever reasons.
(and could possibly be seeking some kind of monetary goal)

Fortunately for all the Men I played with in my mid-teens through my late 20's, I'm not hung up on the bad (or good) decisions I made during that time period.
I had fun either way and though there may have been a few times when a bit of coercion was involved to get me to do some stuff I really didn't want to do, it didn't result in anything more than never "playing' with that particular individual again.
Hell, I've got more psychological hangups due to my fuk'd up family life as a kid, than I do from chit like that.

Also, Singer does not appear at all to me, to be a Dominant Personality kind of guy.
Which with my many years of experience leads me to believe that any encounters he may have had with young guys back in the 90's were probably mutually agreed upon with him stupidly not being more careful about the age thing.
(Teenagers lie all the time if they think SEX could be involved)
There have always been a lot of Teenagers going around (especially in Hollywood) getting into any kind of sexual action just because they could and not considering in any way, the long term consequences of their actions.
Survivors remorse, especially when it comes to sexual encounters is a hard thing to cope with, even if one knows it was what one wanted at the time.

i try to depersonalize this stuff (like not using the name “kurtzman” as an epithet) but i really wanna know what fuller’s deal is. even if he does suspect picard is plagiarized, it’s really bad form to let it be broadcast on the internet by a friend. if he really thinks there’s shadiness going down, he can go to the WGA but telling people to tell other people he cried is just strange behavior.

No offense, but what does sexual abuse in Hollywood have to do with the topic of Star Trek: Picard?

My Bad again.
I just get annoyed when I see older guys start making accusations about stuff that happened decades ago and I spout off about it.
Especially since I'd been in many of those kind of situations and realize it's not always one side or the other mostly to blame.

Anyway, I really like this trailer.

I have heard he is difficult to work with because he does not like having his vision compromised, this leads to cost and time overruns. I have also heard he has some bad "habits".......all are rumor. However, I agree with you, if I told someone my deepest thoughts and they posted it all over YouTube, I'd be a bit pissed. If HE has a problem she should be the one speaking about it.
