New Picard SDCC Trailer

Needless to say, CBS does not need to license designs that CBS owns. And even if there were negative test screenings (doubtful), I find it highly improbable that concern over the props(!) would warrant re-shoots.

This 25% nonsense will never die, will it?

They state a rumor that after negative reviews from test audiences they specifically licensed props and designs from the Berman era

The uniforms are rather uninspired. They’re just a slight variation of the TNG ones.
At least they’re not the red ones. That always indicates a possible future and not THE future.

And people would complain if they were too different...

#NotMy24thcenturyUniforms

So I'm sure they just took a conservative approach.
Keep the First Contact ones then. I don’t think people would have complained if they were different. This isn’t a Discovery situation. This is the future of the franchise

They probably thought the colors looked better. Besides, with the frequency with which they changed uniforms in the TNG era, they needed to do something different enough or people like me would complain. So they did a slight tweak to the DS9 uniforms.

Loved it. Looks great. As expected, characters from TNG-DS9-VOY will appear plus newer, younger characters. No way they were going to write this without taking advantage of the three casts they had to pick from. More to come I am sure as seasons progress.

Here is Robert Meyer Burnett on the "Midnight's Edge" podcast, reporting how he personally spoke to Bryan Fuller after Fuller watched the trailer and "Fuller was crying", since PIC seems to use large portions of a Fuller series pitch without crediting him.

And regarding the 25% rule: They state a rumor that after negative reviews from test audiences they specifically licensed props and designs from the Berman era to use them in the reshoots for the show and bring it closer to the look of Berman-Trek and further away from JJ-Trek. BUT: Burnett states that he talked to Fuller when he still was a producer of DIS, and Fuller never mentioned such a 25% rule.

In this video, Burnett describes the series pitch from Fuller in detail, so it is possible to compare the actual series with this in 2020 and see, if Fuller's idea was actually used.

Bullshit..........Other than Picard being older and the supernova, there's not much similar. Time made Picard age and Kurtzman wrote the supernova in ST09. Maybe Fuller was crying because he can't hold down a job these days.

I'll believe it when Fuller sues and the WGA backs him up.
