Adam also did 5 seasons as Slattery on The Last Ship, and was great on there.

Back on topic, Dahj sounds a bit like Tash, as in Tasha Yar, so I'll guess she is related to Tasha/Sela. Probably totally wrong.

He's also really great in the DOOM PATROL series.

My first thought upon seeing this thread...

Sure, Summer Glau's acting work has become less frequent in recent years. This happens to coincide with her having two kids. Perhaps she reduced her workload in order to spend time with them. People do have lives outside of work, after all.

Right? See also Phoebe Cates, Michelle Pfeiffer, Demi Moore, Jewel Staite (she was on Stargate for a long time and then cut down on acting after her kid).

My first impression was that it's just "latest tech Borg"; kinda like rebooted Battlestar Galactica's droids. Then again, it was such an obvious thought that I'd be surprised if I wasn't just lead to it in order to surprise me later.

That's the thing with previews, they're full of deflections. But the Borg cube was there for a reason though, even if it just shows up in a Picard flashback scene.

A borg princess would be interesting however why would Picard ask Star Fleet to help her if she was? Why would he care she’s in danger?

My first thought was if the Borg children in the Voyager episode “Collective”, not sure her age would match however.

The flashes as she comes and goes makes me think of Q. So I think she's a daughter of Q from the Continuum. Maybe a half Q, as she appears to be injured in the trailer?

Q had a son with another Q in "The Q and The Grey" Voyager episode, so it would be possible.

I also like the idea that she might be another Romulan Picard clone. Any clone doesn't necessarily have to be the same sex as the original as genetic manipulation could be used to change the clone to female.

Changing ethnicity as well, if that's the case.
But I think all Picard clones should be bald.

I think Steve Shives has it. He says what he thinks around the 13:45-mark. He thinks she might be the daughter of Data and the Borg Queen. The actress looks like she's in her early-20s and it's been over 20 years since First Contact, so the ages line up.

Before someone says, "But that particular Borg Queen was destroyed!", I'm going to cut you off at the pass. To quote what she said to Picard later on in the film, "You think in such three-dimensional terms."

according to an article on trekmove isa briones said this about her character "I play Dahj. She is a young woman who has lived her life as any normal young woman would and then suddenly a big event happens in her life and everything gets turned upside down and she looks for answers from Picard." so maybe she was just a normal person that got assimilated and captured and de-assimilated but instead of releasing her, they just kept her and the others a prisoner. Or maybe she was just imprisoned and the borg and the "She'll destroy us all" line are just trailer trickery and misdirection.

Perhaps at this point, Federation society is categorizing individuals based on certain traits, but when she is tested, it's discovered that she shockingly does not fit into any of these arbitrary categories, and she ends up having to run for her life to escape this system. Let the dystopian YA angst commence!

Someone who may have been a Borg who escapes that Romulan fulfilment Center I’m guessing.

My only problem with that theory is that none of the genetic material would have actually have come from Data, it would have come from the poor assimilated schmuck that the Queen got those slabs of flesh from.

That said, Steve Shives' "Trek, Actually" is my favorite YouTube Trek commentary show. He cuts right through the BS from Midnight's Edge and Doomcock and the 25%ers with a much more reality based viewpoint and he has a great understanding of what Star Trek is.

Why does she have to be related to someone? We don’t need another Rey situation.
