I'm curious how the board will be laid out. Production eras? The current format is broken with Discovery spanning 2 distinct eras. Not that anyone asked, but I'd do...

Current Treks (with subforums for Disco, Picard and later Section 31, NicTrek, Lower Decks)

Kelvin universe

Berman-era Treks (TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT subforums)

Classic movies I-X

Original/Animated series

It would be nice to see that level of organization, but it's easy to see why things will remain the same. The franchise itself is now so large and complex, topped with alternate timelines and it was at that point where it becomes inevitable and not incorrect to fathom. But it's been said "Picard" takes place in the same universe TNG had. But the same claim was made for DSC involving 60s Trek (yet clearly cannot be per a million article posts in that forum and all the reasons therein.) And after a while sifting though so many categories becomes so pedantic... there is something to be said about the current balance in layout. Time will tell. :)

It would be very helpful to have a subforum. I think it's pretty clear that this show will air and is no longer a rumor or in development.

And it is. As it references "The Cage" and uses footage from that era. So, yes, same timeline.

It's also an art form, which means things will be updated. The characters are the same, the ships the same, the events the same, etc.

Picard is the same way, especially given the ridiculous amount of nods to prior continuity in the trailers. If they are not the same timeline then all the things Picard is referencing are utterly meaningless.

Denial seems to be his favorite river to swim against the current in.
:cardie:

It's probably time for it now that more details have emerged.

Plus it doesn't really fit anywhere else.

It's time for a Picard sub-forum. I'm not sure is there enough interest in Lower Decks forum though, even though it a confirmed show also.

Slight tweek for shits and giggles.

Roddenberry/Coon/Fontana Era (1966-1974): The Original Series/The Animated Series

Bennett/Meyer Era (1979-1991): Original Series Movies

Berman Era (1987-2005): The Next Generation/Next Gen Movies, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise

Kurtzman Era (2009-Present): Kelvin Universe, Discovery, Picard and eventually Section 31, Lower Decks, the Nick cartoon and whatever else they throw at us.

EDIT
Honorary Trek: Galaxy Quest, The Orville

I still think it's inexplicable that there isn't a dedicated PIC forum yet. What's the hold up? Vegas? Come on now, press button "create new subforum" and you're golden. Easy peasy... lemon squeezy.
