The trailer said it’s been 2 decades since Nemesis, that would be 2399. The placard for Picard’s civilian outfit says 2399.

Proposal:
Star Trek Now: Disco, Picard, Short Treks etc
Star Trek Back Then: TNG through ENT
Star Trek Way Back Then: TOS and TAS
Star Trek Movies And Such: Movies and such
While I take this point, we also know there have been rethinks/reshoots along the way, and that aspects of what has been revealed so far have been somewhat in contrast with Stewart's "very rigid rules". At this stage, 4 of the 7 TNG main cast have been confirmed, alongside one former guest actor who appeared three times on TNG as a very prominant (and, like 7, potentially plot important, given what we know) character, and one cast member from Star Trek: Voyager. Whatever Stewart's original demands, it appears there have been some compromises along the way.
I'm not suggesting I want fan service, or even if fan service is a particularly good thing. But at this stage, given what has been revealed so far, I honestly don't think we can rule anything out...
I think the mistake here is thinking he was even rigid in the first place. I don't see how any of this is in contrast to what he expects. Stewart himself said there could be even more returning cast members in later seasons. What he didn't want was TNG - Captain Picard of the Enterprise with his crew Worf, Riker, Crusher etc. trekking together. And he wanted Picard to be a changed man. That's about it, and it leaves the door wide open.
Well, Enterprise is a special case because it's the only show that's canon in both Prime and Kelvin verse.
Yes reshoots happen usually AFTER ALL principle photography is completed and a rough edit is done. Reshoots for Picard would be done in September/October time frame. By the same token there have been NO SCREENINGS no matter what YouTubers tell you. That ain't how it works.

TNG premiered 32 years ago!! Trek is never going back to the visual style of TNG. TV shows have to adapt to the current expectations of their audience. Heck, TNG changed the visual style quite a bit from TOS. Frankly, while the stories are still entertaining, TNG does look quite dated now.
I am more willing to give PICARD a pass for changing the visuals since it is a sequel. DISC was different since it was set in the general TOS era which we've already seen so there was a certain expectation that it should be consistent with what we know. Just like setting a show in England, circa 1776 should look and feel like what we know of England in 1776. But PICARD, being a sequel, is from an era in the future, that we've not seen yet. Things change in the future, so it is permissible to change the look and style a bit. 20 years is enough time for some things to change. Just like if we did a TV show set in America in 2039, it would be expected for things to look a bit different. In fact, we would want things to look different since it would not be realistic for America in 2039 to look exactly the same as 2019.

Clearly the solution here is to christen shows set in the period from 2364 to 2402 as 'Picard Era' since he started it and appears poised to finish it.
I really could do with less lense flair and digital smear. That shit is asinie, and actually doesn't scream "modern", but "early 2000s-we just discovered digital color correcting" to me. You don't see that a lot in other high- end current day productions. (Though in a lot of Kurtzman productions, like Fringe, Hawaii five-0).
It does help to cover digital effects/room extensions better. But at the cost of making everything look like badly rendered crap.
Apart from that, I'm really okay with the new style. I really like the more free-floating camera movement, and modern shows simply have more cuts, closer close-ups, wider wide-shots... That's all fine. Just tone down the afterFX-filters!

I'm really strictly in favour of production timeline. With everything. The Star Wars prequels should be watched after(!) the original trilogy. Not before.
That would be great, except I don't think they'll finish it here.
I think given the demand for Pike, how well people respond to Picard, and the demand to go further in the future, CBSAA will always want to make sure it has "TOS" Material, "TNG" Material, and "Future" Material in the pipeline. It's a smart strategy if they want to fill up the entire year. They're catering to all three groups at the same time.
It's entirely possible that all 3 seasons will all play out in few weeks/months within the same year in-universe.

The series also cut quite nicely by studio: Desliu era, Paramount era, CBS era.
Good to see that with yet another new series, the bitching and whining continue.

You've always got the pre-existing 700 odd episodes to watch over and over again, if you need your trek to adhere to the production values of the 60's and 90's. Embrace change, because it ain't going back to the way you want it.
I'm really looking forward to having yet another Trek show with modern production values to sit back and enjoy

Agreed. Which is why (at least for Star Trek) it's better to make sequels than prequels.

Traditionally, TV shows were filmed and completed a few weeks before airing. In the age of binge-streaming, that's no longer the case but by and large filming is done in "chronological" order of intended broadcast. I doubt there would be much done in reshoots, if any, for this show.
IIRC he was involved in Renegades.
Am I the only one that thinks that the banner is nothing more than a holodeck projection? And that this is the same scene where Picard meets Data (another hologram) for a game of poker? I mean, that does seem like the most logical conclusion based on the evidence we have so far... right?
