Feige said in an interview today that this is the complete phase IV. Thor 4 is the last phase iv movie, apparently. All those other things still to come in 2022 and beyond are phase V.

We don't really need another big build-up to another big team-up. For one thing, it's already been done and I can't imagine how they could possibly top that. I've said in the past Kang would be viable for time travel shenanigans, but we already got those shenanigans, so even that would be somewhat repetitive. Besides, Feige insinuated earlier this year (I have no idea when or where) that the way phase 4 is structured, an Avengers build-up isn't really in the cards, at least for the foreseeable future.

Well, we already know Wanda is in Multiverse of Madness. Considering Love and Thunder comes out before Vol. 3, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw at least a cameo from the Guardians (and then set Vol. 3 before Love and Thunder?). The Eternals might have some kind of crossover with any of the galactic characters, depending on the time setting. Lastly, I certainly hope we get at least a cameo from Hawkeye in Black Widow.

Oh, wow, that's kind of surprising considering each Phase has gotten larger and larger. I guess this is a soft reset. I guess this nixes my above suggestion of Vol. 3 being set prior to Love and Thunder.

Can you provide a link where said that?

Oh, I'm sure there'll be cameos here and there, but I specified "major" crossover appearances, by which I meant heroes who have had MCU movies (not even Disney+ series) named after them. IOW: Hawkeye doesn't count. ;)

    True.

For those who are interested, here are high-quality videos of each of the big announcements.

I don't think Wanda's role will be a cameo, nor any of my other suggestions (except for the Guardians).

I'm watching The Eternals announcement right now and I had no idea that Lauren Ridloff (Makkari) is deaf. Considering the character isn't deaf (or at least in the Gaiman run I've read), this is an exciting choice on Marvel's part and I hope they handle it right. I'm shocked there hasn't been any press on her casting and how she's the first deaf hero in the MCU!

I just read the cliff notes on the panel and some nice surprises (Ali as Blade.. awesome. He's a tremendous actor and movie martial arts can be trained), the Disney+ shows sound interesting but anything else i just don't know.

It just seems that the Marvel train has reached peak speed with the Infinity War movies and now they continue on a flat, straight course - nothing truly blew my mind, no standout just a bunch of sequels and some things that we already knew about.

Now i might eat my words once we actually get to see the movies and their connections, once they start to build up the new main villain (if there even is one) but i really hope Marvel has something up its sleeve other than turning the wheel of the Marvel money printer at full speed.

I'm glad they're settling down into a steady pace of just making movies, instead of perpetually trying to do Events and feeling obligated to top each one with an even bigger one. That sort of thing can reach a point of diminishing returns. It would be a mistake to try to top Infinity War, or even to try to follow it with another big crossover event anytime soon. Either would be an anticlimax.

Someone (the casting director for Captain Marvel, maybe), indicated the bartender is supposed to be the same person. But the rest I agree with.

According to Feige, Ali reached out to them and asked to be Blade. That's just not something you say no to.

The guy who plays Mr Harrington in the MCU Spider-Man movies was in the Incredible Hulk film as a University Student too...but then they decided that he was the same guy just 8 years or so apart.

The first actor to have a dual role in the MCU was the SHIELD tech guy who tried to keep Cap, Black Widow and Hawkeye from taking the quinjet in Avengers ("Son, just don't").

He showed up as SHIELD agent Tyler in the third episode of Agents of SHIELD, "The Asset".

While the MCU wiki has him being the same character in both, I do not believe that was the original intent.

Why not? AoS has used a lot of characters from the movies. It even took Powers Boothe's nameless World Council member, named him Gideon Malick, and made him a head of Hydra. So it's certainly possible that this guy was meant to be the same person.

I know all that. In this instance, I just don't think that that much thought was put into it. Also, the switch from technician to field agent seems abrupt (I know, I know. Mack was a mechanic who became director, but still).

I just don't think that they deliberately wrote a role for a minor nameless character (He didn't get his name until "The Asset") with one line to his credit. If they did, they never said, "Hey, look at what we did here", it was the fans that noticed and made the connection. The fact that they cast an actor that had already played SHIELD personnel in the MCU was probably just happenstance (or the fact that Avengers and AoS have the same casting director).

All that said, I have no problem with them retroactively being the same character. "Nameless Agent number one" from 1.09 "Repairs" eventually became Agent Davis a couple of years later, but I don't think that they created Agent Davis specifically with the nameless agent from the 9th episode in mind, either.

In terms of writing the initial script, sure. But given how aware the AoS staff was of the movies that early on, and how eager they were to establish continuity, I doubt they were oblivious to the fact that the guy they cast had been in The Avengers. That may even have been the reason they hired him for the part they'd already written. Maybe they said, "Hey, let's give the Tyler role to this guy so we can say it's the same character!"

I think if we can cope with different actors playing the same role in continuity in the same medium (Bruce, Rhodey etc.) then I don't think it's too much the ask to accept an actor playing more than one role in continuity, but across different mediums.

I'm confident that whatever they make is going to be good and possibly be stand out once we get to see it. Another Infinity War is just too much, too soon. I'm sure the next phases will build to something but I have no idea what.

    Might?

I think they did say after Endgame that there was going to be a lot less crossover with the characters.
She's also playing Connie on The Walking Dead. Have there been any other TWD cast members in the MCU? Besides Micheal Rooker, of course.
