Have to disagree. The stories are arguably enjoyable, but the style is nothing if not dated. It’s a choice, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with it, but it is certainly aping something decades past.

No offense, but I'm sure the show can do better than Breen for an adversary.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
I kind of hope that Picard expresses some measure of regret that Data gave his life to save him...as in, Picard went running off on his own to fight Shinzon, and I personally would like it if he reflected on how that was a perhaps a bad decision. I like the way the Trek novels sometimes paper over "questionable" writing decisions made in the shows/movies, and it'd be cool to see that effect here too.
Also, the budget/production values are far beyond the previous 50 years of TV Trek and they still manage to screw up the occasional set of eyebrows?

Yes you're right.
The show isn't gonna give everything away in it's early trailers so I doubt those were the main antagonists.
They could be some kinda bounty hunters.
Why do I get the feeling that the "Motley Crew" will be piloting a recovered Borg Cube as their vessel where they galavant around the stars?
Flashback to an epic showdown between a few Dozen cubes and a huge armada of Federation/Klingon/Romulan ships, utilizing an impressive budget and state of the art VFX work?

Glad the Romulans have lost their bumpy foreheads.
I wonder if Voyager's super-tech came into play (more open to the idea seeing Seven showed up). After Voyager did serious damage to their infrastructure, did they decide to launch a more-than-one-cube assault on the AQ. Even if The Federation managed to integrate most of Admiral Janeway's future tech into some of the fleet, a more dedicated assault by The Borg would still be devastating - upgraded defenses or not. Perhaps we won at significant cost (Enterprise E goes down in the fight), but enough of a victory to make The Borg back off and reconsider it's strategy).
Getting a bit ahead of myself, sorry. Probably just a tad over-excited. But hey, nothing wrong with that from my POV. I'm so glad Star Trek is finally moving forward in it's own timeline with confidence, as opposed to continually mining prequel/TOS territory. I sincerely hope if this is as successful as I see it being, it creates an opening for an all new series that fully fleshes out the early 25th Century. Picard seems to be kicking off with a focus on post-Romulus and The Borg. But there's such a rich tapestry of options to explore beyond that and in this era of TV, with the budgets and lean towards serialized narratives, they could pull something off the likes of Ira Steven Behr could have only dreamed of when he was at the helm of DS9.
i loooved how when Dahj was introduced they made it look like her pulling her hood off was going to be the classic (read: extremely overdone) Vulcanoid ear reveal and then - nope just normal human looking ears
Because the "bridge" that they are on looks like an enormous empty hangar bay? You might be on to something.
yes, this interview seems to suggest that Data may be in a hologram or a flash back.

There's a shot in the trailer of what appears to be some kind of Non-Star Fleet ship entering the damaged Borg Cube.
I would surmise that it is probably Picard and his new crew, since it's pretty obvious the Federation isn't going to be helping him.
Here we go...

Surrounding Picard with good looking younger actors is yet another attempt to make Star Trek "cool". (They've been trying to make it cool for almost 20 years. It always fails).
I'm not gonna lie though. It was pretty exciting seeing Picard, Data and Seven of Nine. I didn't completely hate the trailer.

The show was the idea of acclaimed Trek novelist Kirsten Beyer (famous for her beloved and best-selling post-series Voyager novels), and is being showran by Hugo, Nebula and Pulitzer winning author Michael Chabon.
Beyer, Alex Kurtzman and Akiva Goldsman met with Stewart, who took the meeting with the intention of turning the project down but was intrigued enough by their discussion to ask them for a three-page document outlining Beyer's ideas. Goldsman then invited Chabon to work on the project as well and the four ultimately produced a 34-page document that they sent to Stewart. Needless to say, he loved it.

... the young people are the *literal* Next Generation. A group of children from the Enterprise D, maybe the very same ones whose names are on the Captain Picard Day banner in the trailer, who have grown up and tracked down the man who is a living legend to them, to be 'their Captain' one more time on whatever dangerous mission they're on. That's why the Romulan hints at him "becoming the Captain they want you to be", why Picard recalls this particilar young lady as special, perhaps in link to a Borg incident, why he says "Engage" in the particular way he does, it's a kind of 'Galaxy Quest' esque story about a reluctant hero having to live up to his reputation, tying way back to Picard's worry about 'being put on a ship in charge of children' and having to be seen as a role model as mentioned way back in TNG's pilot episode.
Watch the trailer again with this in mind, and tell me it isn't possible.

The Borg were always shown to be capable of transwarp velocities independent of the transwarp hub. From what we saw in Endgame, The Unicomplex was severely crippled/destroyed and part or whole of the transwarp hub network was destroyed. I never perceived them to be destroyed, but having had taken a pretty severe blow.
Random thought: Could this be an opportunity to remove the ill-conceived Borg Queen? Perhaps The Borg, after the incident in Endgame, chooses to restructure without a Queen, returning The Borg back to their former glory as a terrifying, unwavering force of nature. Perhaps in-universe, The Collective saw a Queen as a potential weakness that individuals were successful in exploiting.
