New Picard SDCC Trailer

So, What I personally gathered from the trailer is that the Romulans are gathering up Borg technology, and the girl is connected to it some how. Maybe a new Generation of Borg? Or maybe one of the Borg the Romulans “freed” and she escaped from them?

This show as well as Lower Decks, isn't for me.
Why?

Knowing about Seven and Hugh, an ex-Borg drawn to Locutus?

That would be my guess, but maybe an advanced Borg (for want of a more creative expression!) as the trailer implies there's something special about her. The fact that the Borg cube in the trailer does appear to be a captured/derelict ship does make me wonder if the Borg are indeed the 'big bad'. I for one hope they are!

Is this an intentional nod to Discovery ? He looks like Peck's Spock

Is the Federation maybe involved as well, with the X days with no assimilation being Engli.. pardon federation standard. I also got the impression that the Admiral not only told Picard to buzz off, but also that Starfleet is complicit. That would explain why he has such a rag tag group of people and not a Starfleet ship and crew.

There appears to be Humans in the crowd. It's probably for them, and the audience.

Maybe the issue is that the Borg now look human?

I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be the case but it would be a bit too much of a 'borrow' from Battlestar for my liking. I mean, on the one hand I don't care because good ol' Star Trek's back! On the other, I hope they would have done something more creative.

I wonder if we will see the Enterprise. Or maybe just see some ship classes like the Sovereign or maybe an old Galaxy class.

The appearance of the 'Captain Picard Day' poster from "The Pegasus" was interesting. I'm thinking Michelle Hurd's character was a child on board the Enterprise.

And there's also the woman telling him, "You have forgotten who you are. We have not," and then later the hippie Vulcan saying, "Be the captain they remember." Maybe it's not just one character, but an entire Enterprise Alumni Association that Picard recruits his crew from.

I hope so! I do wonder if we'll get to see Picard commanding a starship at some point this series. I suppose a Soverign would be more apt as that was the last Enterprise we've seen him command. However, for me I'll always think of the Galaxy when I think of TNG. I never really got too attached to the Enterprise E.

I am more excited for this "Picard" show than I am for Discovery.

Amen to that! I've enjoyed Disco and the movies but this is the first time that I've really felt like Star Trek's back since Nemesis!

I haven't been too fussed about this show but this trailer has got me interested.
I just hope they don't over use the Borg like voyager did.

So, full disclosure, I say this as someone whose favorite character on TNG was Data, and who still hasn't seen Nemesis because she spoiled herself regarding his death by reading the novelization and watching the movie would make it more "real".

Data came on screen and I went "yikes". He looks terrible in this, like someone made a shitty Data mask and pulled it over a face with the wrong bone structure. And this is a shot they felt confident to show in the trailer.

As for the rest, ugh the Borg again? Haven't we ridden this horse to death?

It's weird. Everyone is super exited because x, y, and z are back, but for the first time since the show was announced I feel unexcited.
