The thing is, nowadays most adaptations (and even the comics themselves) tend to ignore Rogue being an outright villain once who only became heroic because Carol's heroic traits basically took over Rogue's mind and just act like she always had heroic traits and this incident is what made her reconsider her life after being "led astray" by Mystique.

So that means there's even less reason to waste Carol like this, because when Rogue is used in the movies odds are she'll already be good and there'll be no point in having Carol's mind be the reason she turns.

    Most doesn't mean this one.

And even if Feige does follow suit on that (which I think would be unfortunate), I still think having someone else's resentful mind trapped in Rogue's head is too iconic a part of the character to not do on screen at least once, and the MCU is really the perfect venue for it. But like I said, it need not necessarily be Carol.

But that "resentful mind" thing hasn't been done with Rogue for like 25 years. It was there in the 80s and then by the mid 90s it was gone. It faded even before she lost the Ms Marvel powers.

And? It was an iconic part of the character for a long time. Spider-man hasn't been in high school since much earlier, but that doesn't mean no one should ever show his high school stories on film.

DP2 director David Leitch, recently:"If I was ever approached to make Deadpool 3, my answer would be, ‘Hell yes,’ but I think there’s a lot of things going on in the shake up with Fox and Disney and where that whole Marvel world after Endgame is gonna be. When the dust settles, let’s hope that Deadpool lives. That’s kind of ironic, right?"

If Disney concludes that there's no market for a PG-13 rated DP3, and is unwilling to dilute the Marvel Studios brand with either an R-rated and/or a non-canon movie, it's not inconceivable that DP3 might not happen. We'll see...

A few months ago they were insisting it was still going to get theatrical release, so they might have too. If the movie was originally contracted as a theatrical release, how hard would it be for them to change it to streaming?

Not hard at all. Making a film doesn't leave you under any obligation to release it in a cinema (The Cloverfield Paradox) or at all (The Hunt).

After 'Dark Phoenix' the X-Men brand is toxic until they get relaunched as part of the MCU, and that's many years away. At this point it's about what loses them the least amount of money.

    https://screenrant.com/new-mutants-movies-x-men-references-mcu/

"FandomWire is reporting The New Mutants' latest cut removes all references to the previous Fox X-Men movies, including any lines suggesting "mutant" is a common term in the film's universe. This changes were apparently made in case Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige decides he wants to make New Mutants part of the MCU and bring its main characters back in either Phase 5 or beyond."

"It's also been reported that a recent re-edit of New Mutants - one that brings the film closer to Boone's original horror-driven vision - is playing unexpectedly well with test audiences, after an earlier iteration failed to impress Disney's executives. Assuming that's the case, it's possible the Mouse House will stick to the movie's current Spring 2020 release date after all and release The New Mutants in theaters, minus the X-Men references and with additional scares. "

Still unconfirmed rumor, but I have to admit I've been wondering about the possibility of this for a while. It's hard to see why Disney would be so coy about just getting it over with and dumping it on netflix or hulu so they can put it behind them. Of course, I've also not bothered to say anything about it since it's equally hard to see why Disney would want the New Mutants (as a horror franchise, no less) to be the first thing audiences see of the MCU X-Men (and I'm probably just biased since I really want to see Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane). But maybe if the movie really is successful it could get some sort of MCU adjacent status, like Deadpool might be getting.

Marvel has built things up such that they have the MCU but at this point can easily create an alternate univerae where Deadpool can do his thing (as opposed to the DC Film Universe)

Even if Deadpool is in an alternate MCU reality, I'm sure Wade will tell the audience he is in fact part of the real MCU and Hugh Jackman isn't.

Just wanted to let anybody who is interested know that Logan is now on Hulu. I was looking around on there a couple days ago and saw it.
