MLB 2019: Mad Max Beyond Astrodome

On whose part?

If you mean Marisnick, then I agree, since he clearly had enough room to slide to the right.

Yes, Marisnick. He was running straight down the third-base line then he shifted almost two feet to the left to clobber Lucroy with a shoulder tackle that would make most pro wrestlers say, "DAMN."

Jesus! WTF? The outside lane was totally clear. He goes inside and hits Lucroy right in the head!

:scream:

Dirty-ass play. Marisnick should have been ejected immediately. (Although Mr. Laser Beam is probably going to Kramer in here and say that if the Angels had an issue with it, they should have just plunked someone.)

In other news, the Cubs trading Eloy Jimenez to the White Sox for Jose Quintana looks worse by the day. I'm tired of him taking the Cubs deep. (I'm also tired of Theo's inability to build a bullpen. A slightly used Brian Brach over Jesse Chavez? Sure, Theo, sounds GREAT! Fucker.)

Also, Lucroy is currently in the hospital for a CT scan and is being evaluated for a potential concussion and broken nose.

This has been a monumentally shitty week for him. He lost a teammate (with whom by all accounts he was extremely close), and his college coach died, and now this. He was planning on driving to Louisiana after the game with his family to attend funeral services for his coach. Woof.

Wow, what the fuck. How the hell is that allowable? This isn't godsdamnit American football.

Umps ruled it clean. Even though Marisnick had a clear, unobstructed path to the plate and Lucroy stepped into the infield to catch the errant throw.

Reminds me of the dirty slide that Anthony Rizzo did on Elias Diaz last year, except about a hundred times worse.

He started outside the line at third base, curved inside without making any attempt to slide at all, and rammed his shoulder into our guy’s face!

That’s some played-out, New Jack horsecrap.

Hey, everyone! I’m thinking about taking a birthday roadtrip to NYC see the Yankees and A’s play in late August. For obvious reasons, I don’t want to deal with NYC traffic or hotel expenses, so I’m wondering if the best option is to stay in NJ and commute via mass transit. I’d appreciate any thoughts you guys have. Thanks!

What bullshit. How can he possibly think, even in the heat of the moment, let alone on review, that was clean? I swear to fucking gods...

In other catcher news, Francisco Cervelli says his days as a catcher are over, because he can't take another concussion.

Another example of "umps are idiots". Why are they out there again?

Hopefully MLB thinks otherwise and an epic fine & suspension are forthcoming.

I was just reading up on that; Cervelli's taken six in his professional career. I can't blame him for deciding to switch positions.

Depending where you stay in Jersey, it can be just as expensive and if you drive into the Bronx way more traffic, going across the GWB.

I would recommend Westchester NY, say Yonkers or the like and take the train to the stadium.

Took the boys to see the Syracuse Mets yesterday and had a wonderful time, even if they lost. The kids got to eat free (popcorn, hot dog, drink, and ice cream.) Sitting in the first row, they each got a foul ball, to run the bases after the game and watch Tim Tebow strike out 4 times.

In addition to the White Sox and Cubs, there is good minor league ball in Chicagoland. We particularly enjoy going to Geneva to see the Kane County Cougars, Class A affiliate of the Diamondbacks. It's actually a pretty good brand of baseball and they have a nice park and it comes without the cost and headaches of going to see one of the MLB teams.

If the All-Star Game goes to extras, each half-inning will start with with a free runner on second base.

We've already seen how this works in the World Baseball Classic and in the minors, first batter does a sac bunt then the second batter goes for a sac fly. Manfred has already floated this as a pace-of-play change for MLB. God, Manfred, you drooling chucklefuck, go jump in a lake or something, you suck.
