The biggest reason The Picard Show needs a subform is because threads about it are now dominating Future of Trek.

I'm technically part of a few Facebook Groups for Star Trek, but I hardly ever post in them. I try to keep FB and Trek separate. I'm involved in the local theater community, the independent film community, and know a lot of local small-time musicians. In other words, I'm involved in the arts. When I'm on Facebook, I try to mentally stay in that mode. If I start talking about Star Trek on there, it's going to distract me from the other things I'm involved with. So I compartmentalize.

The FB Star Trek Groups are my Nuclear Option in case I ever decide I've finally, completely, totally had it with TrekBBS. I had it with this place around 2010. Not so much the last two years, where I've been getting my second wind.

Plus it's easier to look up older threads here than to find older threads on FB, where it's a constant scroll and nothing but a constant scroll. I think bulletin board services, for this type of discussion, just work better structurally.

I guess more than anything I wanted this board to have a more fresh look and change things up a bit. I think the last major change on this board happened maybe 5-6 years ago, and with more Trek on the horizon and this board maybe picking back up with new visitors and members, now was a perfect time to considering how we can make this board more 2019 friendly rather than 2005 friendly. There's always talk about a comic book forum, there's more trek on the way, and I think this is a very exciting time for fandom, as much as we may get into arguments and petty bickering. I guess I just wish people were more excited for change like I tend to be. Granted, maybe that is a selfish response, but change when done well is a good thing. It keeps things fresh and interesting.

Xenforo? Although that seemed to be more of an under-the-hood change.

I think there should be a Picard Forum now and that talk about all the movies should be merged into one forum. But that's just my take. I would like to see Chat back (we had it briefly in the early-'00s), with those who abuse it simply banned from using it.

That was what I was thinking about. Xenforo wasn't a big thing, but it was different.

And whenever you sit on it, a recorder of Picard saying "Make it so!!" and/or "Engage!!" would be played ;);):D:guffaw:

Sometimes i think there might still be no new subforum for the show when Picard is starting to air ;)

I'm sure it's only a matter of time, but I think it would make the flow of this section of the forum easier to navigate right now if the show did have it's own sub-forum.

Or would they first wait to see if there's a second season? But of course these threads cannot continue in "Future of Trek" once the show starts to air.

They are waiting for forum traffic to pick up to make any changes (not how I would do it, but I don’t run the site)

Still seems appropriate to remain in "Future of Trek" since it's a future Trek show.

After Comic-Con there's probably going to be a bunch of new threads about both Picard and Lower Decks. Surely it would make sense to finally give Picard a new subforum so that they can be more separate? Picard might be future Trek, but not by much. I'm pretty sure Discovery got a forum by this point.
