Kurtzman Out?

If it's true...Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I'd wait for confirmation from more reliable news outlets. DSC has driven new subscriptions on CBSAA, with a large part, if not all, of the production costs being absorbed by Netlfix. I'd imagine that S2 and S3 of DSC would be considerably cheaper, around $5m per episode, to take into account the amortization of sets and other assets from the first season; which is much closer in line with DS9 or ENT costs adjusted for inflation and todays production values.
In short, after everything that CBS pushed to get Kurtzman to launch a new Star Trek franchise in 2018, I can't see them canning him one year into his contract. It's too soon and there's not enough time for the shows in development to see a real audience.

There's dozens of lumberjack-light looking fellows with action figures all over their bedroom studio walls ready to voice the latest rumor on Youtube with whatever tidbit they can do their best kremlinology on. Generally speaking, they have seldom been right about anything. The views and traffic all come from rumor mongering and a viewing public that are little more than hungry pigs gobbling up anything that smells organic enough to shove down their mental gullet.

If there were problems from the screening, that's where the people involved go back and adjust, if needed, based on the results of the screening. Its a process. It's not X Factor.

I find it hard to believe there have been any screenings yet. I mean, the footage for the first two episodes has presumably all been shot, but lots of work remains in post-production, like CGI/VFX, editing, and adding music and sound effects.

As much as I don't like direction Kurtzman is taking the franchise, there is no way that CBS would fire anyone after test screenings.

However, Buechler’s insider notes the show is not screening well. His insider tells him the show has “75 to 80% negativity. The 20% who tested positive were people who labeled themselves Abrams fans like it.”

Now this is some BS if there ever was any. :D

Also, in order to have any screenings you need to have some episodes completed and canned. I don't think any have been completed yet? At least I don't think it's been reported as such

Until a reputable source corroborates the story, I don't believe a word of it. It doesn't even make sense. Michael Chabon is in charge of Picard, not Kurtzman.

And even if they were screening the episodes to critics already (which seems extremely unlikely,) why would Kurtzman be fired over negative reactions? Bryan Fuller was fired for delaying production, Berg and Harberts were fired for threatening the other writers, if this rumor is true then Kurtzman would be fired over bad writing in two episodes.

It just seems like something made up to fuel another Midnight's Edge video.

Pretty much this. He's not going anywhere until at least 2023. If I could wait out Rick Berman, these people can wait out Alex Kurtzman. I feel no sympathy for them whatsoever.

Yeah. I have a feeling there will be plenty of Picard Fans who aren't necessarily fans of the JJ Abrams Films. PIC is supposed to be slow-moving and contemplative, unfolding like a 10-hour movie. Compared to DSC which, in their words, is "like a bullet" and the Abrams Films which couldn't slow down for two seconds.

Rumor has it Alex Kurtzman is out...

https://boundingintocomics.com/2019...test-shows-for-star-trek-picard-are-horrible/

It's technically a rumor but has some legs this morning and is in line with the Picard test screening news from last week.

No offense, but if I got on YouTube and made a pronouncement that CBS has fired Kurtzman, would you have automatically believed me and made a topic about it here? Because I’m just about as credible as this Buechler guy.

If I've learned anything from the Midnight's Edge/Nerdorotic types on Youtube, it's I don't believe rumors until there are confirmed sources. Now maybe this might be true, but so much of this stuff has turned into heresay and wishful thinking and I have a hard time believing that that guy who is spearheading like 5 new Star Trek series in the next 5 years is all of a sudden out. I mean if Kurtzman is out, doesn't the dominoes start falling for everything else having to do with Star Trek moving forward? Maybe the Picard series is immune because that's already in production but everything else would take a pretty significant hit.

Is this guy and midnight's edge related? If so, then it tells you everything you need to know.
I don't know if they're connected, but I think this guy is one of those that ran a bunch of rumors about Chris Chibnall getting fired as the showrunner of Doctor Who, so he has zero credibility.

No offense taken. I saw this rumor kicking up some dust late last week and questioned it myself. Certainly nerdorotic and midnight's edge aren't fans of DSC. Could be only a rumor, as I stated up front, but it seemed to be picking up steam, so I thought it a good topic to mull.

Does "stream" mean the same rumor being repeated rather than confirmation from other sources?

Rumors always have "sources" -- not like I know any of them. But I had seen the rumor being repeated in a few different social channels, so it felt as if it had been picking up some steam, which is by no means confirmation on my part.
