Well, it's not required to have an orange tip on it...yet it could probably be used to kill someone, and a replica phaser can't.

 

I remember using the bat'leth accessory that came with my Diamond Select Worf action figure as a letter opener. It was actually quite effective, that was one sharp motherfucker.
