That isn't current humanity. Females are second class citizens within Ferengi culture. The Ferengi never had slavery or any major wars

Humanity is always improving. Current poverty has been reduced to lowest in history, including extreme poverty down to 10%, down from 44% in 1981. Literacy has increased, leading to greater sharing of knowledge. Medical knowledge has improved, taking child mortality down to 4.3%, down from nearly 40% at the early 19th century. Population growth, long considered a problem, has slowed dramatically and education has improved.Women are still second class citizens within some cultures including, to a degree, the US. Where white men make decisions for them.
Sorry, but I'm not going to trade 50% of the population's ability to be clothed, working and participating in economy for some fictional race.
No, we are not far removed from it. Humanity is always capable of great evil and savagery. That's why I believe characters like Georgiou are so important. But we are growing in a far more positive direction than anyone would like to believe. No one asked you too. Just pointing out that we have a long way to go, and aren't as far removed from something like the Ferengi as we like to tell ourselves.
IN that specific instance I'll grant. But, as a whole, sorry I don't agree.
Which version?Unpopular opinion: Star Trek: The Motion Picture is the best Star Trek movie.
Truth! Better actress, better character.Unpopular Opinion: Ezri Dax wasn't much but she was way better than Jadzia.
Ok, that's fair. I read too much in to it and see what it got me?Well, as being obsessed with wealth is the ferengi's main trait, I thought it was a given.![]()
100% agree!Unpopular Opinion: Ezri Dax wasn't much but she was way better than Jadzia.
Not sure how, especially considering the fact that we don't prohibit 50% of our population from participating

100% Agreed. Star Trek V has more visual style than Star Trek III and IV.Ugh....I don't know. I liked Ezri, but I always had a soft spot for Jadzia.
Unpopular Opinion: Shatner had a better directorial eye than Nimoy
end of the movie, pin a medal on his chest, slap him on the back and say "you have a promising career ahead of you cadet kirk."They never should have made Kirk captain of the Enterprise at the end of Trek 2009. Possibly messed up the entire series.
to be honest they weren't the most likeable group of people, meaning the characters not the actors. the parts were well played, but how many of them would you personally want to have spent time with?DS9 didn't catch on like TNG was primarily because the general public didn't connect with some of the cast
The trouble with Dax.. I know there have been multiple threads about it.Unpopular opinion: The reason DS9 didn't catch on like TNG was primarily because the general public didn't connect with some of the cast like they did with the TNG characters. DS9 had a good cast overall but it was not as strong as TNG's cast. Dax was a poorly conceived character. Kira and Bashir should have been recast.
That or a montage.end of the movie, pin a medal on his chest, slap him on the back and say "you have a promising career ahead of you cadet kirk."
cut to credits.
