No need to fansplain, friend, it seemed such a foregone conclusion I just didn't realize where it was in the process.

And we all remember how that prospective Wonder Woman series a few years back got a lot of hype and publicity and a pilot, only to end not being green-lighted in the end.

And thank Hera for that, since it was awful.

There was also Marvel's Most Wanted, that Agents of SHIELD spinoff pilot that got hyped but didn't get picked up in the end. I kept expecting them to retool it into an AoS episode.

    Coming Soon even.

the comment in the article about being ordered to series speculated that it mght take Arrow's spot after the 8ep season 8 but I wonder if we could see it debut at the start of the ratings period in September.

I can't remember, did they address the flying rodent in the room (link could lead to potential spoilers) when they first announced that Luke Fox was was a character on the show.
Pretty much every character with a superhero identity who's on one of the shows, has taken on that identity, so I'm assuming he'll become Batwing at some point. I was just wondering if it will be right away or the end point of a story arc.

I can think of a few exceptions. Lyla Michaels has not become Harbinger, though that is her ARGUS code name; and Starling City DA Kate Spencer (from Arrow seasons 1-2) did not become Manhunter. There's also Emma Caulfield's Cameron Chase in Supergirl, a one-shot FBI agent named after the superpowered (but non-costumed) DEO head in the comics. And there have been several villain characters without the superpowers of their counterparts -- Anatoly Knyazev, General Eiling, Warden Wolfe.

Still, admittedly, most of those characters are from early seasons before they went as all-out with the comics-y stuff as they do now. So I have no doubt you're right that Luke will become Batwing eventually.

They haven't mentioned anything officially on that point.

I don't think that's much of a spoiler really, because if they do that usually they promote such things weeks in advance so even people who are completely unaware of it now won't be surprised by it if and when it's on screen.

That's true, I just tend to be cautious about anything people could consider a spoiler.

I didn't realize Lyla was a character from the comics.

Yep, she figured prominently in COIE.
She played the Monitor's right-hand woman and went on to betray him due to being possessed by the Anti-Monitor

The CW-Netflix deal is not being renewed, meaning Netflix won't automatically get WB's CW shows, but will have to bid for them individually. There's rumours WB might be saving Batwoman for their own upcoming streaming service.

Hopefully Netflix gets international rights if that WB thing starts as US only like most do.

Okay, there's a spoiler warning in the thread title, but I'll still put these photos in spoiler tags, just to be save.

Edit: Also, new synopsis. Also using spoiler tags for the same reason.

Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) never planned to be Gotham’s new vigilante. Three years after Batman mysteriously disappeared, Gotham is a city in despair. Without the Caped Crusader, the Gotham City Police Department was overrun and outgunned by criminal gangs. Enter Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and his military-grade Crows Private Security, which now protects the city with omnipresent firepower and militia. Years before, Jacob’s first wife and daughter were killed in the crossfire of Gotham crime. He sent his only surviving daughter, Kate Kane, away from Gotham for her safety.

After a dishonorable discharge from military school and years of brutal survival training, Kate returns home when the Alice in Wonderland gang targets her father and his security firm, by kidnapping his best Crow officer Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Although remarried to wealthy socialite Catherine Hamilton-Kane (Elizabeth Anweis), who bankrolls the Crows, Jacob is still struggling with the family he lost, while keeping Kate –– the daughter he still has –– at a distance. But Kate is a woman who’s done asking for permission. In order to help her family and her city, she’ll have to become the one thing her father loathes –– a dark knight vigilante.

With the help of her compassionate stepsister, Mary (Nicole Kang), and the crafty Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), the son of Wayne Enterprises’ tech guru Lucius Fox, Kate Kane continues the legacy of her missing cousin, Bruce Wayne, as Batwoman. Still holding a flame for her ex-girlfriend, Sophie, Kate uses everything in her power to combat the dark machinations of the psychotic Alice (Rachel Skarsten), who’s always somewhere slipping between sane and insane. Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate soars through the shadowed streets of Gotham as Batwoman. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, she must first overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

I don’t see Legends discussed in the Variety article, neither for the fall or as a mid-season debut. Has time run out on the Legends?

It was renewed. It will probably take Arrow's slot in 2020.

Ah. Good. I was worried for a moment. Wouldn’t do to have my favourite Arrowverse show cancelled without a proper goodbye.
