Title of "The Picard Show"

inside the picard writer's room:

From an article on io9:

And, as you can see there, he doesn’t have the beard like “aged Picard” in his previous series. The image is from a short clip that played at the event, which, according to Rob Owen of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, featured “a Starfleet officer asking Jean-Luc, ‘May I have your name, please, sir?’ as Picard appears incredulous.”

Not gonna lie, reading that made my heart hurt a little bit.

That was a surprise... not. Not that it's a terrible title, I can go along with it. Considering everyone was calling it "Picard" anyway maybe they went "screw it, why not".

Thread title could do with an update but I guess one of the mods would have to do it.

Kinda like Cumberbatch being totally not Khan, despite the fans calling it months beforehand.

This thread's title is nowhere near being the abomination that "WOLVERINE director search down to 8" became, so I'm happy to leave it as it is.

I like it. Fans have been calling it that for months. There's a Star Trek: Picard Facebook page that has been around for months, and people on it are complaining about the name of the show! Anyway, from a marketing perspective, the name is already out there, so the Casuals who already caught a glimpse of it are more likely to check it out.

If I recall correctly, "Deep Space Nine" was originally intended as a placeholder title as well.

Yes, it was. And the placeholder title for the 3rd movie was “in search of Spock” as a joke since Nimoy was hosting a TV show called “in search of”. The final title was a slight variation of that.

Ha, so SM-G was right when she said months ago that this was the title.

At least this rebuts the muckraking that it won’t feature Picard much at all, and that it’ll just be a handover to other characters.

I suspect they went ahead with the placeholder title, and when they looked at alternatives from the list of titles they applied for trademarks for - they couldn't find anything that felt like it fit better.
