No, he had bone claws. He wouldn't need metal claws to trigger the metal detector.

We never see the actual face clearly. ( Which seems deliberate in retrospect. )

We see enough to know it's not Patrick.

    New Mutants'll take that record

It's definitely Patrick at one point, he talked about shooting the scene.

If Dark Phoenix is a massive flop, Disney might reconsider releasing New Mutants and move it to Hulu after all...

I didn't think the trailers were that lackluster. But my favorite was the first one that appeared, that seemed to have leaked from Russia or something. The one with the Doors song. The US final trailer should have also ended with that song.

So is anyone genuinely excited for and eager to see this movie? I'll go because I've seen all the rest, but it'll be an early morning 2d screening where I can get the cheapest possible ticket.

Knowing this all is going to be rewritten into non-existance once MCU reboots X-men down the road really dampens my interest. I don't feel as invested in these versions of the xmen chars as the Patrick Stewart led versions anyway.

    Yes.

I love the XMCU and nothing can change that.

I'll probably still see it in theaters (though not necessarily opening weekend). Following Apocalypse, though, and the trailers that haven't excited me all that much plus the fact that Simon Kinberg was the writer on this after previously writing X-Men 3 doesn't have me sitting with anticipation.

That the MCU will change everything for these characters in a few years doesn't really factor into my diminished enthusiasm. It's still possible, after all, to enjoy one iteration while knowing another one is coming along down the road.

I think we're going to see it the opening weekend.

Thought experiment, how would you judge the current X-Men trilogy vs the original X-Men trilogy?

If we use DOFP as shared movie/tie breaker for both. There is an eerie symmetry to them.

X-Men vs First Class - Group forms and has their first adventure.
X2 vs Apocalypse - Mutants unite to fight a common enemy. Also Xavier is kidnapped to be used by the baddies.
X3 vs Dark Phoenix - Jean loses it and attacks friend and foe alike.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to seeing it and will try go opening day. I'm expecting problems and guessing it will be on the same level as Apocalypse. But hey I'm an X-Men fan, enjoy all the movies and actors, and look forward to seeing what they do with it.

Frankly even The Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine I still own on Blu ray and although they're the "worst" I'd still rather watch them than a lot of other movies out there. So it's a shame this probably isn't gonna be a masterpiece, but I'll still enjoy it for what it is.

I'm really hoping, and do believe, it will be a better movie than Apocalypse. It can't get any fucking worse. I think Origins and Last Stand are works of art compared to that shite. I just want a fun popcorn flick in the vain of the original. I would walk away happy.

Given the XMCU's current status as the longest-running continuous superhero film franchise ever, it's quite fitting that some of its installments "mirror" one another thematically if not narratively.

Apocalypse has its issues but overall it's significantly better than people say it is.

It probably has the best pre-opening credits sequence in the series, for one thing.

X-Men 2 still easily has this for me.
I remember being in the theatre and thinking the price of my ticket was justified by that opening alone.
