It's short for Archibald, which is apparently from the name of one of Princess Diana's ancestors, Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll. I'm surprised that that fact and the baby's actual first name aren't seeing more press. It’s refreshing they gave him a non-traditional royal name.
As for a traditional royal name, it doesn't much matter, because if the baby ever actually had to take the throne, he would doubtlessly be dubbed George or Henry or some other regular kingly name for his coronation. That's how the royals roll.
Doubly so, perhaps, if it turns out the Betty in that case is short for Elizabeth.Harry is short for Henry, and there have been guys named Henry running that country for a thousand years, give or take.
Zara is a variation of Sarah, which is an even older name than Harry.
But that kid is going to be teased for the rest of his life if he ever likes a girl named Betty or Veronica.
