Interview with writer/producer David Goodman: https://trekmovie.com/2019/05/03/in...ped-up-season-two-and-where-it-could-go-next/
Specifically: Can you say anything about if there is going to be a third season? We have not got an official pick-up yet, but we are beginning talks. I’m optimistic, but I don’t have the final, official word yet. I think the show has been doing well for them. The studio loves the show. It sells well in foreign sales. So, I am optimistic, but as I often say in this business it is nothing until it is something.
By the way, why does it seem Marina Sirtis always has a different, awkwardly performed accent? Between her bad Russian accent in SG1 and this.
Tangentially related: Halston Sage's newest film is out on Netflix streaming as of yesterday. It is called an ensemble romantic comedy titled The Last Summer. TVGuide was unkind to it.
Also, I have decided to headcanon that every time a Star Trek actor appears in Orville, it's because The Orville survived to the 24th century and became a holonovel, and the character from Star Trek is playing the holonovel.
Pretty sure the 'accent' she uses in The Orville is a slightly more refined version of her normal speaking voice, which is a working class london/hackney accent.
Great timing mentioning McDevitt! I just finished Moonfall this weekend! I love the Pricilla Hutchins series.
I started reading The World of The Orville this morning, and there have already been a couple interesting bits of info. According to David Goodman's foreward, there was only a month between Seth McFarlane telling him he had an idea for a new show and The Orville being picked up for a 12 episode first season. The writing staff was split in half between drama writers and comedy writers, but in the end they all ended up doing everything.
I thought you guys might enjoy this. an exchanges screen grabbed and posted on another forum, from Facebook or Twitter:
So Starfleet designers were all fans of this obscure 21st century show, and based their organization and tech loosely on the show?
I just had a horrific thought...the finale for the third and final season...an episode about Tom Paris and Harry Kim playing an episode of Orville to decide which Delaney sister to date...
