Regarding STO's TrekBBS Fleet

I am sorry. For the past 6 years, I have tried to keep to the original founding promise of the fleet to have it be a home for all members of the forum who plays Star Trek Online. I have kept the vital fleet projects running. I have contributed to fleet projects as much as my meager resources as I can afford to. I have never kicked anyone out of the fleet regardless of how long they have not played STO.

Earlier this year, I had a long talk with galacticroamer (aka TJ?) regarding the state of the fleet. I understand that he wants the fleet to advance at a faster pace. He had wanted to remove me as a senior adjunct, which I vehemently opposed. I thought I had talked him out of it. Apparently not. :/

Yesterday, I discovered that practically everyone has been kicked out of the fleet. There are only 55 members when there used to be nearly 300. I am so sorry for all the players who had called TrekBBS Fleet as a home in the Trek universe, you have now been kicked out. All my characters are no longer senior adjunct. I no longer have any of my usual powers to maintain the fleet and it's holdings. From my perspective, TJ has effectively established himself as the sole person in charge of the fleet.

^^You can always join another fleet, i assume there are still tons playing STO, and you don't really lose anything anyway hoping from fleet to fleet, they were brought in just as another form of grind and to gently steer you into just paying to bypass said grind. lol

I am logging into STO today for the first time in ages, big patch, gigs and gig by the look of it. lol

I basically did the same thing. Was there for less than a minute before I logged out. Don't have as much interest in the game as I use too. Did notice that one person whose characters had been removed.

Took ages to patch for me, been a while, but yeah seems i am also fleet free, what am i going to spend all that zen and dilith on now. lol
But i won't bother joining another fleet unless say a update or story arc comes along that peaks my interest in the game again, but at this stage i think that is very unlikley....although i can't believe how much stipend zen i am sitting with, has it been that long. lol

That's super shitty. I was a fleet admiral, if he didn't find a way to boot me maybe I should consider demoting him ;)

Haven't played in a bit, so guess I didn't notice. Disappointing.

Hello all. Well it took a while for anyone to notice and I'm glad to respond to concerns posted here. First off I found it shitty that the fleet leadership dropped out and effectively abandoned the fleet without seeing to it's care. The senior adjunct had an opportunity to take fleet leadership and declined the honor. If you don't believe me, please go back and read the old thread, it is all right there. Only after, did he request a promotion which I agreed to, then decided against it. I was new to being in charge of a fleet and there was a learning curve. Of 300 or so members all but those that remain had not logged in a substantial time. I removed them and as I made clear to the then senior adjunct, anyone removed may always ask for reinstatement at any time and some have and I added them back to the roster.

I was pissed. Pissed that former leadership vanished without seeing to what was "claimed" to be so important. I for one value and cherish this fleet as it was the 1st fleet I joined in STO and I had a great time with many members now long gone. I am still a regular/daily player. As I told our senior adjunct at the time, my main priority is the well being of the fleet and it's remaining members. Only recently did I take the action of the higher demotion of someone with 7 alts with the rank of senior adjunct. As he stated we did not see eye to eye and that was fine. The facts come down to this: I have been in charge since November and not one person reached out to me in any way. Only now a thread has been opened to shitcan my name. I safeguarded the fleet you all so claimed to cherish but you can't even be bothered to run an update that takes 3 minutes.

The position of "senior adjunct" which I don't remember hearing before in Star Trek in the first place, should be a position the leader of a fleet can , if nothing else, trust. In the end I found we had no trust in one another, or even a regular speaking dialog. Though he was on almost as often as myself, so I finally demoted him. It was not personal. I will be looking/interviewing for a potential replacement/replacements in due course as I have no desire to run the fleet alone. In my view there is more to the job than simply keeping projects running. It took me taking my main to another fleet and seeing how things are run by people why give a damn to be involved on a daily basis not only with fleet projects but also fleet members. Making friends and learning what this game is capable of being. Beyond what was just dumped by people who only now profess to care about it. In the last 5 months I have learned more from the new fleet I joined than anyone who was in this fleet previously. I believe our fleet members who want this, deserve it, and I've spoken to those that do. But I cannot do it alone.

Without active recruitment a fleet cannot be sustained. The state of the fleet when I took over was the best demonstration of that I've ever seen. The state of things are enough to make one weep. No one speaks to one another. There is no cohesion and the former senior adjunct made it clear that this was not a concern to him. He made that clear as to go so far as to threaten me. Even then I took no action.

If I sound somewhat angry it's because I am and have been since day one taking leadership. I was just a regular member who came to find the fleet abandoned. The armada is in the same state. I went so far as to reach out the to the Armada leader trying to see if there were any guidelines I needed to adhere to as I had no guidance. His response, he forgot he even created the armada and flippantly said do what ever I want. Thought he was cordial enough I give him that. There was no leadership to be found even there. Contributions thru the armada was next to nothing, still is. Were it not so difficult to align with a reputable armada, I would have done so already. I brought in 2 fleets under us ( as the fleets they replaced had near zero activity) in the hopes to spur activity by earning marks and what not. Last week I had a meeting with the leaders of those 2 fleets and apologized as they had received next to no help and I let them out of our agreement to leave whenever they wished. They would not have done so otherwise, out of respect for what they recognized as my sincere attempt to benefit them, our fleet and armada.

If my vision of what the fleet can be doesn't align with any of yours I'll not apologize. I got not one kind word of support from anyone here, now claiming to care about their "home". Well, this fleet has been MY home since I started STO and it is still MY home. I intent to safeguard it better then those who vanished without a word or a thought until months to years after the fact and if this was that important surely things would have been different. I have a feeling from reading the posts above I can expect no support or even a kind word for doing what I thought was the best to maintain the fleet. Though I trimmed the "fat" of players not logged into the game for literally years, be assured anyone wanting back need only ask. I didn't kick out the former senior adjunct because he met that criteria.

I've given you in this post more than I was given in November, so I'll leave you with this. I and others trusted the former leadership and that leadership broke our trust in a careless and thoughtless manner. This may be just a game, not worth the few minutes to patch an update, but to others it and Star Trek itself is much more. While I deeply thank you for establishing and making the fleet what it was I want to assure all it is in the hands of someone who will be willing to have you back in a non leadership form and will never abandon it but look to its growth and health to the best of my ability. I can get over the anger of what happened with the slightest kind word but I'll not put the fleet in a position to have it happen again. I'd readily call all involved fleet mates again. As long as you log in to the game every 90 days I won't even hold you to contributions to projects. I know members of the fleet could benefit from your knowledge and experience. Newer player coming to play for the same reason, and I hope we all do or did. For the love of Star Trek. In time I would even consider raising ranks once again.

I could have ripped anything valuable out of the fleet, renamed it and disappeared but I didn't. Honestly there wasn't enough to make it worth the effort. I'm here, standing before you not afraid to speak my honest truth. Though I have just vented months of frustration I carry no malice or animosity, just a bruised spirit. I'm a good man and I want the best for the fleet. I've been a member of the Trek BBS since 2001, my 1st account glitched out explaining the date on my profile. I have been here nearly 20 years. I am not going anywhere. I have posted much outside this area but I lurk in other parts of the forum.

Vilify me if you wish. Call me what you may. It doesn't matter. In the end I'm doing what others laid aside. The fleet will go on, and with luck, and I hope to get the kind of help I need to run it day to day. It will grow and flourish again. I will be posting a link to this thread to the fleet as to make it public and I invite any fleet members to come and speak your mind whatever it may be. I welcome constructive conversation and suggestions openly. Criticism, I'll listen to that with a open mind as well. Should this thread disappear I have a copy and screen shots. What I wont tolerate is a non-caring attitude. When I told the former senior adjunct my desire to do some restructuring his response, and I quote "I'm not your man". The status quo of stagnation was acceptable to him. That's not something I can work with, I'm not the man for that.

Did they break this game again, i was trying a ground mission and i was getting that rubber banding issue again that was prominent way back at launch with this game, but at least it did not crash to desktop which usually followed this issue back in the day. Lol

It happens now and again, some days are better than others. I line it during the new feature mission when the transports get stuck in asteroids while you are towing them lol. Let me know if you would like an invite back in the fleet Haggis, I'll be glad to send an invite you if you like.

^^Thanks but i rarely play it anymore and occasionally just log in to see how much stipend zen is sitting there and how many old fave bugs they have put back into the game for nostalga. lol

Plus remember in the good old days when the game was in single figures gig size.....now its 32 gig, no wonder it takes forever to patch. lol

Wow. if this is what you view as shitcanning and pissing, I don't know how you would react to actually harsh words. I have not vilified you or called you any names, nor have I used any harsh or angry words. That you choose to react in this manner is telling. My goal in posting this is simply to inform everyone we have lost control of the fleet. If no one here cares about it, this is pretty much the end of the matter. I'ld just like to end with a few facts before my name is tarnished.

Fact. As a member of this forum, you know full well the fleet is for members of this forum. Yet, you took over the fleet first before even making a post about the takeover.

Fact. All the old members were kicked out without even a peep from you. I had to be the one to post here before you even responded.

These two facts can stand on its on.

No problem Haggis, if ya change your mind you know where we are. Also, if ya ever need any suggestions on ways to blow your saving on I be happy to give ya a few. Good luck out there!

23,000 zen, it has indeed been a while, and nothing to spend it on, i might just buy a couple of those ship pack bundles at 10,000 each, that Dyson bundle looks interesting, then of course never use them. lol

Wow indeed. Your lack of empathy for the remaining fleet members is disappointing. However I have no wish to "tarnish" your name as your contributions over the years to the fleet are measurable to be sure. You should understand you were keeping a promise to a group of people who broke their promise not only to the members of the fleet but to yourself. Some of whom had not been in game since 2016. But since you had a goal I'd be happy to directly address them.

FACT 1 : I am a member of this forum and the only one to step up to accept responsibility abandoned by the rest of the leadership. Said leadership made no announcement to abandon the fleet and there for relinquished any right to be notified of any further fleet details.

Fact 2: To demote a fleet admiral takes a full two weeks. It is public for all to see automatically posted in fleet news. So then I would ask in regards to the promise you spoke of, from the first to the last did you send an alarm in any way to them about it? If so then they made their answer clear. If not, I hope they now understand how you keep your "promises".

FACT 3: You chose to publicly apologize to people who seemingly no longer care without ever attempting to speak to me about it yet I saw no apology to the remaining members of the fleet. That very action is an attempt to tell all who read that I have dome something wrong or underhanded. That I have stolen something like a thief in the night. This very action shows your intention. As Fleet Admiral you assume I must notify you of actions I take for the good of the fleet during a stressful and transitional period though you never felt the need to communicate with me.

FACT 4: The rules for fleets are set by Cryptic not myself, I did not subvert then in any way. I was given no mandate upon assuming care of the fleet and they can see for whom you were concerned for and it was never for them. In fact after several attempts to engage with you thru fleet chat, private messages and emails you ignored me time after time to the point of even going so far as to change instance maps when encountering me only to go to the same map and remain there showing you had no other place to go except away from me. I don't know of any fleet leader who would keep you on after that.

Fact 5: The Trek BBS Armada fleet is now in a dead armada in such poor shape, the fact that would are more interested in this pointless dialog does nothing to help your fellow fleet members except to drag out personal fleet business in public. You could have notified the old leadership in another way but instead you choose this obvious method proving your intentions. People that publicly do this aren't seeking to better their fleets but to serve their own ego as you never did this until you lost your rank and fleet abilities and now are left with only creating public drama painting me as a thief.

Fact 6: The fleet remains for people of this forum (assuming the Trek BBS cares and if they do I wonder why I never heard from anyone representing it.) This forum supplies a name only, a name no one I ever encounter has heard of. It does not advertise nor assist in recruitment. Nor does it claim any right to the fleet that I have been made aware of. From what I can tell a small group of people got together 6 years ago to form a fleet under the name of a forum few of them are active in at this point.

Fact 7: I have made several game Fleet Admirals aware of your actions and they are monitoring this thread with great interest. They can judge for themselves what they see here as your name has been the topic of some discussion. You see, fleet admirals like to know when people such as you take these actions as to be forewarned when encountering you in game. People who create undue public drama are frowned upon.

Fact 8: I have removed you from the fleet as a trouble maker and drama seeker. Should you wish to continue, that's on yourself. For the good of the Trek BBS Armada fleet I will no longer engage a person such as yourself. Should you continue to use this website to harass this fleet or it's members and this site allows it to continue from this point, I will remove it from any association with it all together.

Sorry Haggis, I've requested this thread be closed. I'd be glad to continue it in the STO discussion thread. Thanks.

I joined the fleet a few years back, played for a while, but never really got into the fleet activities. And I thought that was a shame, because I thought it might have added an extra dimension to the game that I was missing.

I don't think it's a shame anymore. Now I'm bloody glad I never got to a point where I would feel a need to take a side in... whatever this is. But y'all have fun. ;)

Pretty shitty still to boot people after they worked at it for 9 years. Want to be active and take charge? Go nuts. Why boot the people that got you there? You obviously think that has value, or you’d have started a fresh one.

Before you criticize people for not playing much, recognize that the game has been out for almost a decade, and people have come and gone. I used to play every day, but a decade is a long time for a game. Check in on new stuff occasionally, but is what it is. It would have been nice for people to have a place to go when they do log in, but after their work, you booted them. Again, shitty. Unless they were blocking you from getting new people to help, what was the harm in leaving at least one alt per account?

Well, this is getting a bit tense! I'm going to close this thread to bring this discussion to an end. Can I please suggest that anyone wishign to set up a new TrekBBS fleet creates a new thread and keeps it as a recruitment tool only, not one involvign intricate discussion..... I would recommend you use a Discord type chat tool instead! Feel free to PM if you disagree.
