I thought it was more CBS was told there'd be trouble mechanizing (then) existing designs, and there were some delays while certain aspect of the show's designs were changed.
It's fun sometimes.
I mean, we all know a TV show's success is based upon how well their toy sales are.I think they even once claimed the Picard series was in trouble and on the verge of getting axed by CBS simply because they couldn't get an action figure toy line out.
Well if this was Power Rangers, then Midnight's Edge would have a point. But it's not, so they're full of shit.
Or Kamen Rider.
Plus, it's debatable over how successful Star Trek toys have been.
Game of Thrones struggles to sell action figures, so I don't think it's a problem unique to Star Trek either. The money is in streaming and wearable merchandise.
^The Funko POP boom, on the other hand, I think can be attributed to their Game of Thrones line.
Yet another reason for my hatred of GoT to grow.

Picard reminisces about the Good Old Days when he used to think he was Rambo, then goes out on a ride on a jeep for old time's sake. He drinks a Budweiser and then shoots a random Borg in the head. And that's about as accurate as anything Midnight's Edge reports because they, like I, just made shit up.

CBS are ANGRY that it's not TRUE PRIME UNIVERSE as shown by the delta patterns on Picard's underwear! RESHOOTS UNDERWAY! SECRET BAD ROBOT INVOLVEMENT CONFIRMED by reference to England in episode 4, which was CLEARLY a Bad Robot invention in INTO DARKNESS. Kurtzman rumoured to be still filming without permission! I've listened to actual conspiracy theorists who sound more reasonable.
My absolute nightmare-scenario is that Kurtzman & Co. are actually the type of people that watch "Midnight's Edge" with the goal of incorporating fan-feedback.
That sure as hell would be a better explanation for their complete 180° of entirely abandoning the DIS-universe and worldbuilding at the end of the last season and basically start completely from scratch now.
