I hadn't seen "Rebels" yet. Is it as good as "Clone Wars?"

Looking back, I think it was better than Clone Wars. Much less filler and more thought provoking.

I was disappointed when Filoni (I think it was him) said later on that Anakin was still the Chosen One. I'm sticking with what Obi Wan thinks!

One of the best duels in Star Wars period.

There was a ton of filler.

What Obi-Wan thinks doesn't change how ROTJ goes down, and how ROTJ goes down was the basis for Anakin being regarded as the Chosen One in the first place.

The one big gap we still have in regards to Maul is how he went from where he was in Solo to where he was in Rebels, but I don't see Rise of Skywalker filling in those gaps.

My headcanon is that it was a lot like the dot com bubble bursting.

Had a good thing going, than the Hutts and Empire dropped the hammer on crime (the Empire rooting out the other large crime bosses that wouldn't play to Emperor's game, and the Hutts, who played the Emperor's game. (Possibly Black Sun played as well, though that's not clear anymore)

Except Anakin fulfilled the prophecy in ROTJ. Luke didn’t. So Obi-Wan was wrong.

Obi-wan was sure that Anakin was gone. Only Darth Vader remained. Luke was their last hope as far as Obi-wan was concerned.

From a certain point of view. From another point of view Anakin was still being a selfish prick like he always has. It was Luke who set the stage and put Vader in that position to kill the Emperor. No Luke doing what needs to be done, no saved Galaxy and no balanced Force.

    Yeah you're wrong. Sorry.

Filoni would never contradict George Lucas. He always intended Obi-Wan to be wrong.

Lucas is a Sith Lord. He lied and retconned the truth away.

Filoni was George's Padawan. He would never contradict him. He treats his work as sacrosanct.

Hell LucasFilm period isn't retconning anything Lucas has done, even the stupid stuff.

Hell, they even use or reference the stupid stuff in off-hand manners just to see if the old fans are paying attention.

Here's the thing about interpreting prophecy: it all depends on context. If the criteria for "Chosen One" are 1) Born of no father and 2) brings balance to the force, then really speaking that could apply to either Anakin or Luke, or BOTH. Anakin literally had no father and Luke was (figuratively speaking) also born without a father and both of them together had a vital hand in bringing balance to the force.

As to whom the prophecy specifically refers to, well then you'd have to ask whomever had the vision and transcribed said prophecy....though given the way force visions work, I suspect even they couldn't say.

Personally, I still think it's Anakin. He may have lost his way but he got there in there in the end. Though part of me also kinda thinks the mantle of "Chosen One" is whomever the force needs it to be at any given time. When Anakin fell, it fell to the twins and when they got the galaxy to the point of swinging back the other way (Leia leading the rebellion and Luke reaching what was left of Anakin) then it moved back to Anakin who took it over the finish line.

It was important for marketing reasons at the time for Lucas to deemphasize Luke's role and instead push that the story was really all about Anakin all along. Now that the prequel era is over, we don't have to pretend like that's the case anymore.

I admit that, on a personal level, I've never really liked the virgin Anakin birth or the chosen one prophecy. It's one of my least favorite additions to the prequel era and I honestly prefer to ignore it in my head canon, because I find it silly. YMMV of course.
