Do you mean "Assignment: Earth"?
Sorry, Yes.
Do you mean "Assignment: Earth"?
Yeah pants is another one but that is also fairly recent. Those expressions are just pants (or at least refer to things heading in that general direction).
See the TOS episode: Mission, no sorry, Assignment Earth for your answer.

Yeah just had a look at Assignment Earth, its fine as far as it goes but the issue now is far more complex, with that episode it was just the Enterprise that moved thru time, in this case its Burnham moving forward to stop Control which has already gone back in time triggering Burnham to go forward in time to stop it.
Hence why I said its a cause and effect loop whereas Assignment Earth is just a case of predestination which is something else entirely or you could also consider it to be a self fulfilling prophecy.
Breaking the loop (sending the Discovery away) could undo all that Control has done by removing its perfect sphere data fed version of itself from the timeline, that will also undo everything that it has done across the entire timeline of its existence as a perfect sphere data version which has affected or altered what Burnham/Discovery/Pike has done such as the probe attack on Pikes shuttle, it will never have happened and Airiam will never have been compromised and died.
It all smells like we are heading for a colossal reset with Burnham taking advantage of it to make some adjustments of her own... I would in her place.
If they continue on without a reset I am fine with that but messing with time like this has consequences, only Burnham in the suit would have any recollection of what has changed.
All of this would stay within the universe/timeline we are currently in, no alternates required as its purely a matter of time not space.
While Burnhams mother was the Red Angel she is not the cause of the anomalies, that implies that Burnham will make changes using the suit, however the changes cant be made all at once so it may be an iterative process with Burnham using the anomalies to slwoly and gradually adjust events.Your theory suggests that she will follow in her mother's footsteps, which she has seen have been a colossal failure and in fact appear to have made things worse. My theory is that future Burnham has figured out how to fixed things and has worked to get all her ducks in a row to achieve the goal already. Current Burnham just has to follow through and not deviate, or they are all back to the original mess, or a worse one.
Pull that zipper back up young man!

As was I.I said spread, not squat.
But maybe Sarek and Amanda had much advanced warning to get there due to his Katra connection to Michael.
Okay, so the Katra will know more than an hour before she's going on a suicide mission? Please. Even though, how did they find out Discovery's location and get there in that small time-frame?
What he's been in contact with Micheals katra while she's on one of her time travelling jaunts?
So...can Sarek communicate with her in the future?
She just did 5 trips into the recent past, after he and Amanda visited her.
No, I mean in season 3, will Sarek be able to meditate and form some basic link to her in the 33rd century?
Probably not, but who knows. i won't object to more of him or Amanda if they can think up a reason to have them show up.
That's what I thought they were doing, at first. Up until the moment their ship departed.. . . Since they are now using the Vulcan Katra as sort of like The Force they could have . . . .

I guess Doc Mugatu forgot that Spock could feel Vulcan's dying from light years away 9 years before Obi Wan could do the same trick with the people of Alderaan. Not to mention Gary Mitchell could use telekinesis and shoot out lightning bolts while Sargon and Thalassa became 'force ghosts'. Trek even had the planet destroying doomsday machine before the death star was a glint in Lucas' eye. Pretty much all Star Wars has of its own is light sabers.
