News Georgiou Section 31 Series officially announced:

Well a Pike series would more in line with the Gene Roddenberry traditional concept of Star Trek as being about a Utopian future and space exploration whereas a Section 31 series would be about espionage and the antithesis of everything Star Trek is supposed to be about and represent. Still, on the other hand it wouldn't be another prequel or be encumbered by canon restrictions.
Optimistic. Not always utopian, especially in the TOS era.

And, if Star Trek cannot endure exploration of ideas antithetical to it that it has no business continuing.

There is room for a well-told story about the redemption of Georgiou, but nothing in season 2 showed any hint of it. That's my biggest issue at the moment.

Agreed but I think there's reason to be optimistic - Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt are the head writers of the series, and after their work on the Saru's homeworld episode I think they've got a good handle on how to write optimistic Star Trek plots and solid characterisation.

The two ways I can see to handle the character's past are to either brush it aside or do the exact opposite and address it head-on. Xena Warrior Princess was a tacky show at the best of times, but it showed that you can have a likeable and occasionally heroic protagonist who used to murder children for fun.

Is it me or are a whole lot more people excited about a potential Captain Pike series than are even remotely interested in a Section 31 series?
That was always going to be the case, its also a fair reason for them keeping the potential of a Pike/Enterprise show quiet for now as it will overshadow everything else.

We don't need the character to seek redemption so much as get a better understanding her motivations. The reason people forgive these things in tv show and movies, beyond the fact that it's all fiction and none of it matters is because the more you understand a character and also see some of their good traits or interesting traits then people can't help but sort of want to root for them.

If they want they can give her a code. Also a reason for doing any of this. She should have little to no interest in working for Section 31 because why does she care about Federation security. One thing you can play up is her loneliness. She knows nobody in this world and is close to nobody. Has no family or friends. All she has is her defensive posturing and tons of trust issues because she came from a universe where it's hard to trust and well having a hard time trusting people isn't exactly something that goes away even in a so called better world. She also has little power over her life as well which used to not be the case. She is kind of like a rich person who lost all their money and safety for your future that comes with that.

One other thing is she does have some knowledge of the future because of the Defiant in the mirror universe. Well if she is part of the Prime Universe now then it means the Defiant might have had knowledge about her own future and where she will be by the time that ship gets sucked back in time. Maybe she is running from her own fate or trying to change it.

If it's Georgiou against the universe (in her mind) and given her background that makes sense I could see that working.
