I can’t understand a word Michelle Yeoh is saying. She’s a completely dreadful actor. Big “no thanks” from me.

I don't know if I like this "more nice" take on the character. Do like the idea of exploring more planets but trying to rebuild Section 31 into something more noble is something we know will fail and then if it's more noble then what's the point of them.? Then they are just doing stuff Starfleet Intelligence can do or just regular Starfleet.

The important thing to remember is Section 31 is not their to go help aliens or really make the universe a better place in general. It's their to protect the Federation by doing things that Starfleet can't do because it is either unwilling or because they simply don't want to get their hands dirty. If they are out their trying to help the local aliens just because they feel compassion then the show will end up feeling like it's not living up to it's premise and it will end up feeling like what happened to The Maquis on "Voyager." Don't setup all this chance for some non-traditional Starfleet perspective storytelling an then undercut it before you even really get to use it.

"You spent season two building up Section 31 in the Discovery universe, and the finale ends with Ash Tyler (Shazad Latif) being made Commander of the crumbling organization. What do fans have to look forward to with that story?

If you're a fan of Deep Space Nine, you've probably spent the past two years saying, "What the hell are they doing with Section 31? That's nothing like the Section 31 we know." That's exactly right. In Deep Space Nine, they did not have badges or ships. They're an underground organization. What you see on Discovery and our upcoming show with Michelle Yeoh is how Section 31 became that organization and why it was so underground by the time Deep Space Nine comes around."

DS9's Section 31 were assholes, which speaks against making them more noble. It is kind of weird though then to make Tyler the boss and Georgiou nicer.

Did you really join just to spout a bunch of racist drivel and bad jokes about how much you hate Discovery? She's no harder to understand than any other Trek character with an accent.

There's no call for making that sort of accusation based on such a vague comment.

While her being a genocidal space cannibal is still IMHO too much to make her a truly sympathetic lead, she did get some awesome moments in season two. "I thought there were no bad ideas?" bit and the insane Murder Giggling

While I have never been much of a giggler I do on occasion break out in the odd snigger every now and then.

I have been reliably informed that I sound like Muttley when I do.

So is the "I want to hear you scream!" Georgiou the nicer one we've been told about? If so, I think she still needs some therapy.

One thing I do predict is if they use Tyler on the show which I think they will I suspect the character will be much better on the new show than old show. Much like how Angel become more interesting after escaping the trap of "love interests" when he got his own show we might actually get to see Tyler be more defined for who he is instead of who he is in love with.

I'm intrigued how they're going to square this off now Georgiou went forward in time with Discovery (or at least appeared to). Perhaps she fled to an escape pod at the last moment. Bit of a spoiler if she appears in S3 because we basically know they're getting back.

Not really - it just means that *she* might make it back and they stay in the future - it's an easy thing to write in.

But most of us don't publicly announce how much we want to watch someone suffer, or casually suggest causing a supernova and then not see the problem with destroying all life in the solar system.

To be fair, the only thing suffering in that instance was an omnicidal computer program with delusions of grandeur. Leland himself was long gone.

She was raised in a world where that kind of thing happened often. And she herself is implied to have ordered the murder of billions. She's also eaten the flesh of Kelpien slaves.

I'm really hoping she has Ash or someone as the 'straight' Starfleet guy keeping her in line in the S31 series. After all, her being "good" in Disco S2 was only tied to making sure her adopted daughter's counterpart Michael was okay. And now she's gonna be out of the equation...

Yeah. No matter how "nice" she seems to act, nothing can change the fact that she did some unspeakably evil things just a short time ago.

Captain Cold in The Flash / DC's Legends of Tomorrow murdered an innocent police officer on-screen as part of an episode's plot, and was still considered a hero. The namesake of that franchise (Green Arrow) has violently killed hundreds of people too, many of whom are just low-level security men. Nowadays most the audience don't care.

I'm hoping the switch to a new series makes the character easier to accept. While this is all taking place in the same universe, the tone of the show could do a lot to help, and her background could be more vaguely defined than the actual murders and slavery we saw on-screen in Discovery season one.

You could do a lot of stuff like suggesting she was considered progressive and "too soft" by Mirror Universe standards, despite still being awful by our standards, and making that a big part of her character and backstory. That'd suggest that a lot of her misdeeds were partially by circumstance.

Then again, she made a joke about genociding the Talosians, apparently referring to a real event, only a few episodes ago, so hmm.
