THE ORVILLE S2, E13: "TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW"

Side note: This is a good reason The Orville doesn't need it's own sub-forum yet. A new episode gets 11 posts on the night it airs? And three are like live tweets by the same poster. Hope ratings are better this week.
I've actually wondered why each episode needs its own thread, never mind a dedicated subforum for the show. Other series in here make do with a single long "Season __" thread. Of course, I guess the answer to "why" is because Dennis starts 'em. :p

Jaw drop.

Was it just me or did the opening credits text get put out twice (main theme and post-credits act)

My first thought was that this would be a filler episode since next week's episode deals with Kelly's actions (believing it to be her insubordination and going after the Moclans that were pretty much instigating war), while middling around with some alternate timeline thing.

I also thought the finale was going to address the Moclan issue, but this week's issue where - oopsie - the memory wipe did not work and we're left wondering how badly damaged the ship is in... Jaw drop. That's Kelly's action with the serious repercussions. Dang...

A couple scenes just reeked of "21st century generic bar scene"... and I wanted more out of post"Identity" regarding Isaac and Dr Finn, though her scene with old-Kelly is easily the best in this episode. But despite that--

9/10. It had enough twists and turns and refreshingly so. This show uses common sci-fi tropes but sure as heck is nothing like a Trek retread, it's added plenty new in its own right and not throwing around namedrops and callbacks while pretending to be cool.

Also, this season has a recurring theme... is there a big untold metaphor or allegory, which might tie into why the show hasn't officially been given the title of "renewed" or "cancelled" yet?

Well, I have to say that wasn't my favourite episode. It was cute, but I felt like it was the weakest episode this season.

IMHO, nothing beats the lame cell phone episode - but even this episode played it close with "making more relatable, *cough* " the technobabble a tad much. So much of the episode makes up for its weaknesses, thankfully.

But man, her legs looked thin in the tight pants!
I noticed that as well, figured it was one of those thing nobody else notices.

Kelly was also on Friday Night Lights. She was Judy Robinson on the unsold pilot "The Robinsons" (Lost in Space reboot)
Not to mention the leaked pilot of Wonder Woman. :)

Do we know how old people are when they finish at Union Point? If it’s early 20s I can definitely see seven years being monumentally changing, but once you get into your upper 20s and beyond I’m not sure how big of a difference it is on average for most people. YMMV of course.
I'd assume Union Point is like typical military academies today. Four years with the attending students typically aged 18-22.

Assuming Kelly is meant to be the same age as Adrianne Palicki (who is currently 35 and likely was when this episode was filmed) then Past Kelly in this episode would have been 28.
And do we have an alternate timeline where the two never dated now?
Presumably that's "Kelly's disastrous decision" next week's plot references.

Stargate might be angry?

Road not taken was about refugees from parallel world where the Gou'ld won.

Kelly not going out with Ed, is going to help the Kaylon win.

Then she has to go sideways to the other present, to you now like "live" because of the rampant genocide.

Gateworld (freely and legally) dumped online the T'Pol episode where the female Jaffa's make their own colony.

Yeah.

Stargate is angry.

The 1970's called, they want their theme song back. Also, the worst FX I've ever seen. Are we sure that was from 2011?

But seriously folks, I think Adrianne would have made a better WW than Gal, and I like Gal in the part. Adrianne is just built more like WW.

So like everyone was guessing that one of the regular was going to go away
Not so much.

I think in the altered timeline,
Now, Ed and Kelly can get together and get married snd not mess it up this time.

Bah?
The Stargate episode The Road Not Taken was about Sam Carter ending up in an alternate reality where the Stargate was made public, resulting in the US becoming aggressively totalitarian.

It sounds like you're talking about Point of View.

Nearly. I was mushing point of view and there but for the grace of God, because my wife won't let me watch Stargate, and all my memories about this show have snappened.

What David E Kelly's Wonder Woman did to Westly from the Princess Bride is far worse.

It made him AMERICAN and FAT.

Whoa, that was a fun little episode, right up until the final 15 seconds, when you realized something major was about to happen.

They can literally do anything they want next week. And knowing this show, I'd be a little surprised if everything went back to the status quo.

Thumbs up for not really advertising that this was a 2-parter. And really, maybe not even making it a 2-parter. Just making an episode that would have major ramifications the following week, as this story is over, and perhaps something very different is going to happen now. Perhaps.

Scott Grimes would likely be second. He's really gained quite a following in recent years, and he really shines in this series.

When it comes to fame I think Norm McDonald would be the second most famous person but I don't think that would count in this regard since he isn't really a regular or human on the show.

Paleki's fame goes also back to "Friday Night Lights" and while people might not know her name I bet most people are familiar with her face in Penny Johnson. She has been around along time. I first noticed her on "The Larry Sanders Show."

Must be me I think that Wonder Women show would have actually been lots of fun. More based off the old tv show than the comics but still lots of fun. I don't see those effects as being bad for 2011 tv budget effects.

I quit Stargate halfway through season 9, maybe that episode is worth trying to see.

Stargate's alternate universe episodes are mainly Earths destroyed by the gu'ald because they didn't have one crucial element needed to stop the invasion. They didn't contact the Asgard, or they didn't get on the invading ships. This is a situation where they need to enter a terrible marriage to save Earth.
