I love the bridge. Honestly, it might be among my favorites in any era. However, I had an interesting experience when watching 2x13 with my partner, who isn't sure about the difference betwee Kirk and Pike but has been patiently watching Discovery with his Trek-loving boyfriend. (Honestly, I think he's turning into a closet fan. After we work through Battlestar Galactica, I think we'll give Deep Space Nine a go.)
Anyway, he couldn't pick the original Enterprise bridge out of a line-up, but he did react when the camera pulled back to reveal the reimagined bridge. "Oh God!" he said. "It looks like something out of the 60s!" Apparently despite the changes, something in its design language is successfully enough in sync with the original that people who don't know the show can sense it. Just thought that was interesting.
