Yeah it's definitely going to happen. I think Anson Mount tweeting about being out of work will turn out to be a massive troll
Does anyone know how far into Pike's five-year mission they were when the Enterprise suffered its system failure?
Not related but I just spotted Anson Mount has a podcast that recently had Doug Jones and Ethan Peck on it.

There's no way they built that set for only 2 episodes. I think the announcement will come the week after Discovery's season finale (since Easter is directly after the finale and I doubt they want to announce anything huge during a holiday).

There weren't any Andorians or Tellarites (thank God), but there were multiple aliens on Pike's bridge. At least two (not counting Spock). One of them had a weird red, spiky face.
With the characters as presently cast, I would definitely keep my subscription to CBSAA for this new series. I might keep it for the Picard series if it looks interesting, I will NOT keep it for Discovery. They only reason I'm watching season 2 is because of Pike, Spock, Number One and the Enterprise.
To be fair, Pike looks good everywhere.

I am in, and have been from jump. Ever since Mount & RR were announced. I especially thought RR was an awful big hire for a small cameo.
I foresee:
1) Discovery being shot into the future. Way into the future. And perhaps way off in space. The goal will be to make sure Control is neutralized and then to get back.
I think we will get what Voyager should have been. If far enough in the future, no cannon issues. But discovering new races & places.
2) Picard.
More contenplaitive & better thought out. More TNGish. Cannot wait for that. And some post-Nemesis prime timeline. No cannon restrictions.
3) Pike.
More TOS/TNG in terms of format. Episodic. Boldly going. New faces & places. Will be cannon constraints here.
If between the TV & Tarrantino Trek we could put a bow on or undo the JJverse, that would be fantastic.

Depends on who the writers are? I'd want the Discovery writer's no where near it.

I suspect season 3 will move the show to the USS Enterprise and leave the Discovery hidden in time and abandoned.
Otherwise that's a very elaborate bridge set for only one use.
I'd alternately like to see Pike as head instructor in a Starfleet Academy series, based on the flashforward scenes in "Valley" and ST'09..
