I found this petition (and other two) today, and I signed it. I believe that a spin off with Pike, Spock and number one, leaving Burnham in it´s own show, is a thing that a lot of fans would like to see. If you think as me, sign the pettion. https://www.change.org/p/star-trek-...k-series-w-captain-pike-struggle-is-pointless
I think a Pike series has already been in the works and will be announced after season 2 of Discovery is complete. Maybe even announced as soon as after tomorrow’s episode airs (if Pike and Spock are off the Discovery for good in tomorrow’s episode). I think they are keeping the announcement under wraps so as not to distract from season 2 of Discovery, but I bet this season was serving as a set up for the Pike series as well as set up for the form Discovery will take starting in season 3 (which will be revealed in the next 2 episodes).
To me a Pike series is the ultimate spin-off. This was something I always wanted to see even long before Discovery was conceived. Anson Mount and Ethan Peck have done fantastic jobs in their roles. In addition, I want to see more of Rebecca Romijn as Number One, but I LOVED what little we saw of her. It excites me to no end that given as much of the Enterprise's history we saw on TOS and through the movies, there's still a good 10-15 years of that ship that we don't know anything about. Discovery's done a great job filling some of that in, but, an entire series set aboard a pre-Kirk era of the NCC-1701 is far too exciting. It's been suggested in the past that this series could potentially overshadow Discovery or that it would be difficult to have two shows set aboard a starship at once, but, I think a Pike-led series could be formatted to not be serialized and instead do stand alone episodes. Even though season (or series) long arcs continue to be the storytelling trend, it'd be interesting to see Trek return to stand alone stories.
If a pike-lead show goes on long enough think they'll recast kirk and go into the Where No Man has Gone Before era?
They should do a Pike series. Even a limited one season series is better than nothing. The series probably ends with Pike handing over to Kirk.
IDK if a Pike series is the way to go - BUT, an occasional Pike based streaming feature film type offering...
I hope you are correct. Both have been very quiet and side stepped questions about it, plus if they DID make a new metal version of the connie bridge as some have said that might be a hint. If they are doing it I hope they already secretly went into production. ;-)
I would go so far as to say, not only that I hope it happens, but that I'd even like for them to remake The Cage as a part of it. Let's be honest. Even those of us who are fans of Discovery, if we were asked before that the new show would be set 10 years before TOS and what would we like to see, I'd wager 100% of us would have said a show set on the Enterprise featuring Captain Pike, Number One and crew. That's what this Star Trek prequel always should have been all along.
I'm not a big "sign a petition kind of guy"... but a Pike series has my absolute support. Anson Mount has killed it this year, and has possibly been the greatest thing about Discovery season 2 as well, if not the entire series so far. I'm so in.
Mount seems to be "liking" a lot of tweets along these lines. Maybe he's just taking them as praise of his fine work, but he's certainly not expressing disinterest in the possibility.
i would like a pike show so much to tell, and any chance to see the enterprise seeking out new life and exploring the galaxy ,i want to get back to tos style of story telling , not story arcs and game of thrones type tv .
They did add an episode to the season 2 of Discovery. The last episode of the season could be a backdoor pilot for the Pike/Enterprise series. If they do make it into a series then what should it be called?
I still want to see Captain April in some incarnation. A little cameo or something. The book Final Frontier provided a neat window into what his time on the E would look like. If they wanted a Kirk, they could slide George Kirk in there, but that's completely unnecessary. Just have April pop up on the view screen or something.
The lead could be a cardboard cutout of Anson, and I'd still prefer it over a stupid Section 31 show.
I think a Pre-Kirk Enterprise show with Mount, Peck and Romjin would be great. I was worried that redoing these classic characters might be mistake but this season has shown me that they can do a great job with those characters and I'd like to see more. Maybe full length movies on CBSAA.
I'd support this, if not a series, then a set of movies, say like Sherlock.. have a few movies a year.. Basically, they have a great character, and I hope they continue to use them.
