I voted for Friday's Child not because I didn't like it, but because it fit what I thought this concept of "generic" is, it has a Klingon, it has a red shirt death to show how dangerous it is, it has a small village full of people standing in for a planetary population, a people that are aliens but their only difference is their wardrobe and dialogue about 'differences', it has the Enterprise running around, it has action sequences,(good ones, actually) and it has a bit of a joke ending although this one isn't too bad. It very much fits a "generic template".
