I think the Gorn costume was quite effective and it's only as an adult that you can see it's faults! I'll let you know when I reach adolescence!

By the way didn't gay used to be a word for a loose woman or a prostitute? I know it described a woman of easy virtue in the nineteenth century and perhaps even earlier!

No, gay meant happy and in a good mood. It's in a Christmas song and my husband informs me that the UVA school song has gay in it with that previous usage. When I was growing up, homosexual was used (neutral), and there were at least two terms that were derogatory. Gay wasn't one of them.
