OK, , the Red Angel mystery has been solved. But the 7 red signals still remain a mystery.

The four that have been investigated happened in the asteriod, terralysium, Kaminar and Borath. Will we see the other 3 in the next 2 episodes?

Spock thought this was another time traveler that is also connected somehow to Michael. Hopefully it is not the father.

The signal are obviously meant for Discovery. The latest one was to give Discovery the time crystal. Not sure about the purpose of the previous ones. Was the first one just to save Reno?

I think the time crystals are going to be used to move Discovery to the future time period, seen in Calypso, to hide it from Control after the self destruct fails for some reason. Zora it turns out is the A.I of the sphere which has become more 'human' after integrating with Discovery's systems

I don't think Discovery was moved to future in Calypso. It had waited 1000 years. So I think they will hide Discovery somewhere and it will stay there for a 1000 years or so. The crew may end up in the future and then start looking for Discovery.

So is it Zora sending the signals?

But how is future Control not able to figure that out?

I posted a theory earlier. I think this is more on point. She had been waiting 1000 years and it gave her time to “evolve.” No reason Reno’s little helper bots couldn’t build any interface tech she wanted.

Maybe because they instruct Discovery to pick a random point in a nebula that can't be scanned? If no humans know where Discovery actually goes, and no outside electronic record of its path exists, it would have to physically explore all of space. And space is, of course, vast, making it an impossible task even over a 1,000-year period.

I think each signal is leading the ship to something either Zora or Dr. Burnham needs in the future.

The first signal also brought the non-baryonic/dark matter samples onto the ship.

The second signal ended up with Terralysium a getting a power cell with a "very long lifespan".

The third signal isn't as straightforward to me. The only thing the ship really "gains" is that Control offloads Airiam's memories onto the ship's computer.

    Fourth signal, time crystal.

The fifth signal, if it is indeed Xahea, could be to pick up a dilithium recharger so that the ship can operate for 1000 years.

Yeah I like Reno, but I think that was all about getting the rock onto the ship, which served as the one & only thing that happened to be able to save Terralysium, the planet Dr. Burnham used as a means to see that the past/present/future could be successfully changed in a meaningful way.

Hey something I read on reddit, so don't take this as fact at all but someone mentioned maybe time crystals have appeared in other treks only we don't know them by name, for instance that chrono deflector Janeway takes from the Klingon in Endgame might have one.

Just was funny reading that and the previous discussion on time crystals.

Gotta say, I cringed the first several times they used that phrase "time crystals," but now I think it has kind of a "retro" sound to it that works well with TOS lingo that was usually simpler in nature than the meaningless technobabble of later series (mainly VOY). Now I cringe and also smile when they say it.

Eh, I think the rock is both the cause and the solution to the problem. They say the "gravitational stability" of the rings was disrupted and that leads to the crisis situation. Seems to me like a huge chunk of magic space rock appearing in orbit would be enough to cause that disruption.

Also, the way Pike goes out of his way to explain the power cell he's giving Jacob has a "very long lifespan" leads me to believe that was the real goal of the 2nd signal.

I like this. Although Jacob says that he's sure that he'll meet Pike again, and I don't think you include that line if the guy isn't going to show up still. Somehow, I imagine we will need to return to Terralysium in the present and/or visit it in the far future. There must be more to that part of the story still. I like that the power cell could be important in the future.

It's also not clear whether there are people living on Terralysium in the future. Its kinda sorta implied that there are?

As for Xahea, maybe a red burst shows up there, or maybe it provides a way to hide the ship. Seems like a strangely magical planet, and it looks particularly weird in the trailer.

Although if they really want to hide the ship, I would think you'd call on the Talosians...

It looked to me like the planet was getting grey goo'd by Control's nanobots. Maybe there is a red burst but Control gets there first?

Seems to me they could also make you forget a certain step-sister. Ya know, if that kind of thing became important to the story.

*Click* Airiam’s memories + sphere data results in the very human and enchanting Zora AI we see in Calypso. That has to be it.

The more we discuss and see, the more I’m convinced Zora is key to this and part of Zora is Airiam.

This weeks cliff hanger - will...

...the crew decide that instead of destroying Discovery to stop the sphere data getting intro he wrong hands, they fake self destruct the ship (i.e. leave traces that infer it has been destroyed) and then send it off to hide and evolve into Zora in the nebula?

I got that right, along with other things. [pat on the back] And most importantly, the theory (shared on other threads) that Discovery would remove itself from the current timeline proved correct. There was so much vitriol against that, but I don't expect any apologies from those folks.

Seriously, what do you expect when it's a ship that has all of time & space at its disposal? A linear chronological approach simply does not suffice. The haters are awkwardly quiet today.

I dunno. This episode suggests they will only be able to use the time crystal once. I suspected that Discovery was first going to go back in time and "fix" something in the past which helped to make Control happen (probably the death of Michael's father and her mother being lost in time) and it doesn't seem like we're going there.

It definitely looks like a 1-way trip. Shoutout again to the minority who predicted Discovery’s removal from the current timeline. :techman:
