I'm not sure why people say Stargate was bad in season 1. I think the show got better but it was still good in season 1 Here is a list of all the good episodes

    1 Children of Gods(pilot)
    2 The Enemy Within
    3 The Nox
    4 Thor's Hammer
    5 The Torment of Tantalus
    6 Bloodlines
    7 Singularity
    8 Enigma
    9 Solitudes
    10 Tin Man
11There But for the Grace of God
    12 Politics
    13 Within the Serpents Grasp.

Numbers 2,5,9,11 and 13 are really good and cmpares well with any good stuff in future seasons. Plus the clip show which is 12 is even good by clip show standards. "Stargate" was maybe the first show ever where their clip shows didn't fully suck which was quite amazing.

Jeff / Britta / Anne love triangle that was always teased and went no where.

And really?! Season 1 was fine. 2-6 were best, I think the worst season is season 7.

I've just thought of another one that I bailed on after the first season: The Good Place. It's technically a great show, and we loved the first season. We came into it late and first season was only available on Netflix, so by the time season 2 was available on Netflix which took a long time, we were eager for more. But upon viewing the first episode, we felt our hearts weren't into it, and particularly felt that the characters reset into different locations and roles killed it for us.

I’ve tried watching the first season of Farscape three times. I like the aesthetic of the show but I just can’t seem to get into it.

Farscape is a good show when one has the patience for it. Thing is, it suffers from the 90's era of sci-fi. It gets a bit weird at times and parts of it haven't aged all that well. They were very ambitious and at times they try to do too much. But at its core, there's a lot to like about it once you get to know the characters.

Farscape is awesome but the first season is rough. Love seasons 2-3 and how the show changes and evolves. Which it has a few more seasons.

Ouch! Forgotten already? You were just down ther
Part of it was that, while most clip shows are inherently pointless (even though I've always had a soft spot for them), Stargate usually compensated by putting major plot arc developments into them. Actually, my #1 favorite episode of Stargate Atlantis was the clip show "Letters from Pegasus."

I suppose it depends on which you think is worse-- "haven't figured out the formula yet" or "the formula has gone stale." I'm generally more forgiving of stale formula because I can at least enjoy the echo of what it used to be. YMMV.

I don't think it was bad, so much as it was much more ordinary. I don't skip season 1 except for the Code of Honor-like episode. Whereas the next six seasons are special, season 1 is just a regular above average space opera.

I find most of season 8 mediocre with a few really good episodes and the Browder seasons unwatchable. But seasons 2-5 are A, 6 and 7 B+. Season 1 is like a B-.

I liked Stargate ok, but I really didn't like Arc of Truth. The main actors weren't trying and it showed. By comparison to what we got in the series itself.

Lost - I got a few episodes into season 2 and bailed. The questions stopped being intriguing to me.

Supergirl - I liked Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart, but the show was just too lightweight for me

The Orville - I had intentions of watching season 2 even though I didn't even watch all of season 1 (didn't watch last two episodes). However, to date, I haen't had the desire to pick it up again. I may try again if I ever hear that they've stopped trying to make the show a comedy.

Thanks for that. I took your advice. I've really been enjoying it. I might pick up on the rest of season 1 at some point, but I'm in no hurry.

The show was never a comedy. It had comedy elements in it. Which I do feel has been played down even more in season 2. It will never be super edgy or anything like that but it is in the running as best pure escapism show on tv right up their with "Legends of Tommorrow" and "Stranger Things."

That's the issue with Orville. It's not funny enough to be a comedy and it's too funny to take seriously as a space opera.

The show would be better if they pivoted in either direction. It could be a great comedy if they decided to be one. Or it could be a good space opera if they allowed the serious episodes to be dramatic without undercutting the tension with dumb guy humor.

I think people who dismiss lost just because the way they address the mysteries is frustrating are watching it wrong. Lost is about the characters first and the mysteries second.

I agree about Lost. Lost is very very character oriented. It's also almost a soap opera and I mean that in a good way. It loves to explore the characters pain and misery. It's basically all about people who have failed at life and they are trying to fix what has been wrong with them on the inside for years and The Island takes away the trappings of society and roles within society so all they have is who they are as a human being. Their old jobs and lives no longer matter except for the people from regular society they want to reconnect with. Nobody really wants to get back to their old lives on the show but their are people they want to get a second chance with.

Selfie. Just kidding, it only had one season.

I would go with "Hannibal." I barely got through a couple episodes because it was so gruesome for a show rated for age 14.

It was, and certainly wasn't worth watching. Trust me; I suffered through it.

Season 3 was a big improvement, but still couldn't measure up to the brilliance of season 1.
