It’s unfortunate that more people aren’t able to see this as it’s quickly become a favorite. Then again, it probably wouldn’t be what it is if it wasn’t on the streaming service. This show is like Legion if it made a bit of sense.;)

I don’t want to spoil anything but the resolution to how you defeat a god was nicely involved and inventive. Saucy Marilyn was a great side character as is Ezekiel the doomsaying bug. Diane Guerrero gives her all as Jane and her alters and impresses. And Alan Tudyk is awesome as usual as Mr. Nobody. I am really impressed five episodes how fully realized this show feels.

Robotman sure likes to say the word "fuck" a lot.

The Chief needs to enable his profanity filter.

It's his catchphrase but the show does provide a lot of times where it's a legit thing to say. I do like when the characters are like "Does anyone know what's going on here?". Larry had a particuarly nice, earnest and deadpan "What's going on?" at the end of the last episode.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be buying this as soon as it's available outside of DC Universe.

Doom Patrol is really good. Coming from someone who doesn't care for Morrison's Doom Patrol, that is a really big compliment. I hope this show gets multiple seasons, both because its great and because it and Young Justice are the only things justifying DC universe's existence right now.

Another fantastic episode, say what you will about the Doom Patrol's dysfunctional heroics, but they solved "the snap" way faster than the Avengers... :D

Well DOOM PATROL PATROL did a good job in showing that Niles really is a fucking awful human being (as if we didn't need any further proof of that). It was also full of pathos as it shows exactly how society treats the mentally ill and aging even if they're being "kind." I also found myself thinking, "You know, Vic's dad is a real piece of work and probably brainwashed his son--but when he says that Niles and he aren't friends I'm almost sure he has a good reason for it."

I wonder if Vic dad was offering to upgrade Cliff, who looks like Steampunk cosplayers made him.

It's amazing how ripe the stories and characterizations are being only six episodes in from nothing. Though I think the backdoor pilot in the Titans was probably helpful in figuring out what works and what doesn't when bringing the series to fruition. I think this is my favorite thing currently airing and if I could only watch one thing this would be it.

I'm thinking that likely is going to tie into Mr. Nobody's motivations. Has Nobody said why he's doing it? I'd have to go back to see but it seems it must be Caulder doing Nobody wrong.

I think it suits Cliff though and I kind of like the idea of him being sort of an "infernal machine" made with forgotten techniques as it keeps his operating capabilities vague which keeps things open for different stories. Vic's dad did seem at the very least to be empathetic of Cliff's state and not just simply boastful at thinking Cliff could be better.

I get the impression that the Chief and Vic's Dad are the same person at different points in their lives (helped by the Chief being immortal for whatever reason).

Vic's dad made some questionable ethical decisions for the good of his son combined with some selfish ones (probably faking the idea the accident was his son's fault). And the Chief has done that MANY times in the course of his life so it's second nature to him now.

Aw, they made Caulder evil? That's disappointing. That was one of the two things about Morrison's run that I really hated.

I wouldn't go that far *yet* but it's suggested that he hasn't always had the best of intentions or methods. However, maybe he's trying to change or has improve. A theme running through Doom Patrol the series is that these are all broken people finding themselves and changing to become better people in the search for the chief so maybe that goes for the chief as well.

I'm currently working my way through the comics but I went all the way back to the start in the golden age. I'm so curious what the Morrison run will be like. The early comics has a lot of tension between Negative Man and Robotman due to being "freaks" and their competing for the affections of Rita who is unobtainable (Rita doesn't blob out and thus is a bit more normal) and others . Their relationship with the chief does get testy at times and he isn't a goody goody two shoes though he usually has their ultimate best interests in mind.

That's encouraging. I've been looking forward to getting this on DVD when it comes out, so I hope there's no deal breakers.

For the most part, it's amazing. It's one of the few drastic re-imaginings of a concept that manages to be completely different yet capture the essence of the source material. Toward the end, though, he kind of loses it and does a couple of things I really hated. I've mentioned one and you'll probably know the other when you see it.

Well that was better than most of the actual X-Men stuff out there... ;)

By the way, the pilot episode is available for free on the DCU app for the next few days(along with first episodes of Titans and Young Justice) in case anyone wants to check it out without subbing.

^ Additionally, DCU is offering a free day on Mar 30 though I don't know what information you may have to provide or if it's one of those you have to cancel afterwards deals but it might be worth investigating.

It seems just the Batman stuff will be available for free then since it's celebrating Batman's 80th anniversary, but they're also offering first month for just 80 cents for those who sub between March 29th and April 4th.

Not so sure about this last episode, the all-too-aptly named Therapy Patrol, I thought until now they've done a great job organically exploring the character's past and conditions as part of the narrative so I wasn't really crazy about just dumping it out there in isolation. Though that ending was one of the most "...the fuck?"-iest moments of the series so far. Writer Neil Reynolds has written a lot of The Vampire Diaries which I'm not familiar with and co-wrote Donkey Patrol but I'm not crazy about his contributions here. Not just the plot but I felt the characters were a bit off to boot.

Too bad they didn't call the pilot Doom Pilot instead of just Pilot.
