He was an actor that kept getting yelling roles.

Its not as if Riker could be booed by the crew (audience), he was second in command, not likely that he's going to get the Glasgow Empire treatment. (Destroyed)
"Oh, you were amaaaaaazing Will, so lifelike, I almost crieeed"

Did we see him acting for real? It seems to me that the whole episode took place in Riker's head.

Can't say for sure, been a while since I saw that episode.
My memory is that he WAS performing a play, but somehow he had been compromised by the alien dude, then he seemed to have difficulty distinguishing reality from subterfuge.
Anyway, he was not in the running for any awards.

Might have made "Sub Rosa" a tad bit interesting, had she still been a dog.

One scene that always bugged me a bit, from DS9's "The Way of the Warrior":

DAX: Benjamin, it's going to take at least two minutes to evacuate Dukat's ship. Even with the Defiant's new armour, I don't think we can last that long with our shields down.
WORF: Sir, I have a suggestion.

<<Exterior shot of the Defiant engaging a tractor beam, repelling the cruiser's disruptor beams.>>

DAX: You were right, Mister Worf. The modulated tractor beam is deflecting some of the Klingons' disruptor fire.

Now, how did that conversation go if we hadn't cut away to the exterior shot?

"Sir, I have a suggestion. If we engage a modulated tractor beam, we may deflect some of the Klingons' disruptor fire."
    (They do it.)
"You were right, Mister Worf. The modulated tractor beam is deflecting some of the Klingons' disruptor fire."

That has always bugged me! Even if they don't say the exact same thing, it still comes across as really clumsy if you imagine how the conversation went if we hadn't cut away from the scene.

We get that sort of thing in movies when someone is on the phone and we don't hear the person on the other end.

The person on the phone: You don't like her? Well, I agree, she not a very likable person.

TPOTP: Can we have lunch tomorrow? You have a meeting with your boss! Well, then maybe some other time then...

Perhaps they said it for the ship's audio logs once they found out it actually worked :)

Worf's mantras like "Today Is a good day to die". Why can he acronymize them?

    Worf: TIAGDTD!;)

Since it's been featured on "How Did This Get Made?", I'm guessing no. :)

I always pictured surgical alterations being done with dermal regenerators... maybe medical replicators? Only a little invasive.
    ----------------
Bashir doing a sex change for Quark on a whim is such an impossible event that they had to zoom past it on the story ASAP, so you don't stop to think about it! Responsible doctors don't just do whatever the hell you ask! He's also not a plastic surgery vulture who makes money off people's wacky decisions about their looks. He'd make a medical judgment as to the advisability of a procedure, the necessity of it...
    ==========
Quark might have managed to BS Bashir about this being an important life decision for him, but probably not...
