IDW's Captain Saru one-shot

I thought, "Huh, that TOS guy looks kind of like Leonard from TBBT," but that was before I read your post.

I'm not too big on comics (I used to, though, years ago), but I've been thinking about getting this one. The only comics I've read in the past ten years were those Dark Tower ones.

Now I really want to get into those, as Stamets is one of the characters I care most about. Thanks for the recommendation!

How much time is there really between Burnham's reinstatement and the scene where Discovery picks up the Enterprise's distress call? If it's meant to give Saru a showcase as Captain, it must be a bloody short adventure!

Longer than we might think. Remember, there's post-mission debriefs to be held, boards of inquiry (because impersonation of officers, impersonation of ship's captain, assorted other crimes), repairs to the ship, billeting of new crew...

I remember back in the day, when DC and Marvel had the rights to Trek, they would squeeze a ton of adventures between movie adaptations. IIRC Kirk had a series of adventures aboard the Excelsior.

Is the notebook a con special?

Exclusive Australian licensed merchandise from last year's Royal Easter Show. (There was also a matching T-shirt, foam "stubby" holder, and plastic drink container.) There hadn't been a "Star Trek" show bag since the early 90s (TNG) and, before that, in 1980 (TMP).

Mods, would it be possible to move this to Trek Literature, please? I'd like to be able to discuss it there without creating a new thread, and this one seems more appropriate to that forum anyway.

I initiated a "Latest Acquisition" thread over in TrekLit years ago and updated it each week when I make new purchases of books/comics/RPGs. I only posted a new thread here because I figured some DSC fans might never go to that other thread.
