Anyone else remember that line from the Romulan Story in STO where you're running around a Cardie weapons cargo bay and Satra is like "Be careful what you shoot at. Most things in here don't react too well to weapons fire..."?

Now that we’re 9 episodes through this season, it looks obvious now that the producers/writers made a conscious decision to make episodes this season that stood on their own but also advanced the arc to varying degrees. This is probably the reason why Airiam’s character development came in the same episode she died in as it wrapped her storyline up in a nice little bow. It’s the type of episode, even though the ongoing storyline continued, the main plot had a beginning, middle and end, making it very rewatchable on its own. I think every episode this season has been like that.

While I do wish we'd gotten some of the Airiam material earlier in the season, I am still impressed by how affecting I found her development in the space of one short episode. And now I hope this is the beginning rather than end of her journey, or that Hannah Cheesman at least get to continue on with the show. She seems like a genuine Star Trek fan, too.

I need to get myself one, too, because streaming is a bit of a chore in Germany. I like to make that stale "Germany? The Nineties called: they want their internet back!" joke to make my case. It really is that bad in rural areas.
We have a decent enough internet connection, but I have the rest of Trek on Blu-ray or 4K, so I figured I'd pick up Discovery season one when the price was right.
It would have looked wrong to have season two and not season one on my shelf.

I've given up on physical media. I just sent the last of the DVDs I was holding onto off to Goodwill, and am probably going to eBay my last few BR's sometime soon.
In Germany, people are very wary of going completely digital in general. This might have something to do with the aforementioned bad internet, but maybe it's just because they're collectively stubborn.

I can't imagine giving up control over my entertainment. At least not before I'm 70 or so.
I too gave up on physical media although for me it was years ago. All the books, music, video etc. are now on portable drives of sd cards, Can't put a collection of these in your pocket otherwise.
The 'cloud' however... yeah, no.
I have a Kindle I take with me on travels, but I would never throw out my beloved books. My Lord of the Rings edition, for example, is falling apart because I've read it so may times. I've had to patch it up several times. I love that book - not just the story, but that particular volume. My books are my most precious belongings.
Once upon a time, I had over 300 VHS tapes. Now most of them are in a landfill somewhere. I sold the bulk of my DVDs too. I have just a skeleton collection.
For Star Trek, all I have on Blu-Ray are: the first 10 movies, the 2009 film, and the first season of Discovery. I bought TOS on DVD in 2006 but never upgraded to Blu-Ray. I'll continue to buy the rest of DSC on Blu-Ray but I highly doubt I'll buy the Picard Series or most of the other Star Trek series CBSAA makes. I'll stick to streaming for anything that's not TOS or DSC... or the Georgiou Series.

I used to have a pretty good collection of antiques. But my space is limited and I couldn't justify keeping them and eventually had to find them a good home.
As much as I'd love to have great book and vinyl collections, there just isn't place for them in my life.
Yeah, I get that. I'm just lucky to have a lot of space available for all my useless stuff.
