Things that frustrate us all

Long day at a couple of doctor appointments. The first went long and I didn't have time to do what I was going to between the appointments.

However, my main frustration (also worthy of being in the Good thread) is that I found out the reason I have a painful and swollen foot right now (not mentioned yet on TrekBBS) is that one of the top bones in my bad foot is broken (like, a LOT broken) and there's a special name for this condition that has something to do with people with neuropathy. It's rare but occurs enough that my doctors knew about it.

So, now I'm in an Aircast, need to go back to my crutches and knee scooter and elevate it as much as possible again. Lots of couch time ahead. Maybe I will subscribe to Curiosity Stream.

Oh, the good news bit is that I guess a lot of people wait a LOT longer to be seen for this and my doctor praised me for coming in so soon (two weeks is soon?!?). Apparently, many people wait 6 months or more and by that time they tend to lose limbs. I'll just have a deformed foot from now on (well, it's also kinda missing a damned toe!).

coming home to a burned out, broken dishwasher.

That’s awful! And “burned out”, like literal fire? If so, that’s rather scary! Glad nothing else was damaged/burned.

Aww, sorry Scribble. I remember how happy you seemed to be rid of that stuff last time. :(

geez! That sounds horrible! How big was the damage? Can you still use your kitchen? Do you need help?
well the good news is the maintenance for my building is going to replace the washer but it'll take a few weeks (since apparently every maintenance worker was either fired or quit in the last 2 months except for the guy that I spoke with and one other).
I'm relieved, but hand washing dishes isn't so bad. I did it my entire life before moving into my current place that had more appliances.

No literal fire, but it was hot as proverbial hell and making a clicking/whirring noise when I got home. I set the thing to run and left my apartment on Tues morning, came back Wednesday morning and it hadn't even made it to the beginning part of the wash cycle. Everything was wicked hot and baked on food, which made washing the dishes a chore, but I drank some wine while I did it. ;)

You seem to have dodged a bullet there!

I'm glad you and your property are fine, and I sometimes find hand washing dishes easier than machine washing them.

Thank you. It sucks, but I'm happy I've avoided losing the rest of my leg.

Just need to vent a little. Not sure if it fits within the 'things that frustrate us all' criteria though. Am waiting on a call and it might be wise if I calm down somewhat. So we originally signed a rental agreement for this property with full understanding that it be 'pet friendly'. The agency (go between for us and the landlord) has now provided us with an altered General Tenancy Agreements updated with specifics. Every three months they come around and check every corner of the house and take endless photos, often incorporating said cat. Now the agency has been bought out by a larger corporation. I have an extension agreement to sign and in it a new clause about the agreed pet not being allowed in any part of the actual dwelling - inside house, garage, patio etc. I presume outside is okay. An update to the pest services clause as well. We are to have a service done at the end of our tenancy for inside and outside the dwelling. I'm actually fine with that but if the cat is not supposed to be inside then um, yeah. And what do they mean outside? Are we supposed to get the bricks done and the lawn?? The landlord knows we have an inside cat, he agreed to it when we first moved in.

Poor girl I spoke to who asked why I needed to speak to the agent. I was not nice and not happy. She tried to talk over me after asking a question, why do people do that?

Definitely fits. If you picked that place specifically because they allowed pets, they shouldn't be able to just change the terms on you like that, that's really terrible. Hopefully everything works out so you can keep your cat inside.

Refuge, I keep my fingers cossed for you and your cat! I think involving a lawyer might be a good idea. This clause about "servicing the outside" is a hidden way of them telling you they'll plaster and whitewash the building's outside at your cost, I'm afraid.

Scribble - I'm so relieved that they don't have to cut off even more! Don't worry about teh bone growing together a bit crumpled. Once you've recovered and your blood sugar levels and healing powers get a bit better you can always have a surgery to break the bone again and straighten it.
To assist the healing, I'd recommend you eat lots of dairy products: teh calcium is required to heal the bone. If you have a prob with lactose, avoid milk and soft cheese and switch to yoghurt and hard cheese sorts. Those are made of sour milk and therefore contain no lactose any more (it has all been eaten up by Lactobacillus bacteria =) )

My argh-moment today is very harmless, compared to the probs of everyone else here: I have 2 weeks vacation left from last year and my boss refuses to let me take all in one go but insisted in me to take it day-wise. I managed to get a compromise: twice one week. It's flattering that he thinks he can't live without me but he has to see that I am no perpetuum mobile. Even a robot needs off-time!
(sorry about the typos - I managed to get a really deep paper cut across a fingertip yesterday and typing is difficult with a sticky plaster)

I hope you're able to work this out. If not, if there were any chance, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat. My cats are family, not toys.

Thank you. I doubt I'll need further surgery to repair the damage. I already have ugly feet and no one wants to see a foot without a big toe, anyway, so I won't be wearing open sandals. :)

Weird new pain this morning...my ankle was hurting. Like, bad. I ended up needing to take my Aircast off so I could get a little more sleep. I had been waking me up every now and again the last couple hours before I took it off. I hope my ankle hasn't broken.

I do have deteriorated bones, anyway, and I've talked to my mom about what she's done. She's always taken calcium supplements and has really strong bones. Her sisters have taken Fosamax (Alendronate) and have weakened bones. Looks like I'll be getting some calcium to take on a semi-daily basis!

When I was ten, an older brother of mine dropped a piece of metal on my foot. My big toe never completely recovered and still looks like a modern art piece. So I can't wear open sandals either, never have.

It is quite possible that someone made a cold call using your number. We have a lot of those here and to make things worse these morons often use 110 (the emergency police call number). I'm not sure exactly how that technically works. Apparently they send a wrong identification code so that the called person gets a fake number displayed on their phone.
I believe that's what happened to that lady and to you.

Argh-moment today: I have a rather new car at my office and some colleague changed almost every single setting. It took me 30 mins today to find out how to reset everything.
Silver lining: next time I'll be faster (unless I forget again where the reset command is hidden in the rather complicated menu).
Yep. Especially since it happened again. Probably will come back from this weekend to a half-dozen angry messages. Sent an email to IT asking if we can fix/block this somehow.

^that sucks!

Try organically bound calcium, i.e. in food, rather than in its anorganic form as tablets. The human body takes up far more of the first and does it far easier. The artificial calcium sources are always a bit difficult for the body to access. Evolution has made us adapt to organic sources rather than to anorganic ones.
My dad had thyroid gland cancer and has now to take calcium for the rest of his life. Ever since he started to eat a helping of yoghurt every evening he was able to cut his tablet dosage from 2 to 1 a day.
And the dog is happy because he gets a spoonful of yoghurt, too :D
