Dear Discovery: if you want to go the whole tragic route with silent credits at the shock of offing a regular character... you really need the character to have *been* a character previously, and not just a heavily made-up background extra who essentially is suddenly this week's guest star.

Apart from that- good direction from Frakes, good Spock/Michael scenes, somebody finally remembered that Michael started the Klingon war. It was mind-bogglingly obvious as soon as it was mentioned that Section 31's Control was a system rather than a person or organisation, that it had gone full Skynet.

It seems equally obvious from Airiam's line "it's all about you, Michael" that yep, Michael's going to be the Red Angel...
If I was Pike, I'd be beaming fuckloads of anitmateer and torpedoes into Control right now. And putting a phaser beam through the Airiam's corpse instead of recovering it for a funeral. Just in case.

And was it just me, or did one of the frozen Andorian's antennae snap off when gravity was restored and all the dead bodies fell to the deckplating?

Where is Control though? Surely not just in S31 HQ. Control will have plenty of backups.

Unless its V'Ger, in which case everything was concentrated in one memory core as per Spock's theory about the location of such a complex aboard the V'Ger vessel.

I largely enjoyed the ep, but the Nhan thing did bug me. I get that there were other emergencies going on, but the whole time Burnham was dealing with Airiam, and there was all urgent dialogue and back-and-forth about the airlock, part of me kept thinking "Um, remember Nhan, last seen gasping for breath a few moments ago? Maybe take a moment to check on her . . . ?"
Was Burnham aware that:

- Nan's apparatus had been torn out?
and
- Nan needed said apparatus to breathe?

We always assume a character sees everythiong/knows all about other species but perhaps Burnham didn't realize Nan's dire situation.
