Was she really "supposed" to be on it, or were they just playing Damage Control to placate Twitter babies?

Names on posters are a pretty big deal in Hollywood and deals with things like a person's contact and their billing in the movie itself. Something as simple as being on the poster or even the time they're in the movie itself don't matter.

A big enough star making a cameo in a movie has the clout to get "top billing" on a movie poster even if they just have a cameo or a minor role.

As much as I love Danai Gurira, her character isn't "big enough" to have a significant role (even though she's the only meaningful surviving Wakandan we know) and Gurira, popular as she is from The Walking Dead, doesn't quite have the weight to get billed along side the major names of the Avengers cast.

Her name on the poster isn't a simple as some just putting it there, it's dictated by contracts and negotiations.

    ^ Closer to the truth.

    ...and...

...and was not meant not to be one of the top billed. That should not have been a problem, but....

Yes--its no last second or arbitrary decision al all, so the original poster from a business/marketing sense was not the result of some error, disrespect or oversight.

The problem is she's visible front and center in the poster and was the only person not name checked. That's why it was an issue.

If her role is "insignificant," then she wouldn't be on the poster.

There's plenty of times you'll have a poster with a "group shot" of people on it and not everyone's names are billed because it includes secondary characters. The names at the top are dictated by contracts, the image is just an image.

Maybe so, but it still looks bad when the sole person who is omitted is a woman of color.

Yeah, but not everything is a slight or about race.

What makes sense, this known popular actress had her name omitted because she's black or because her contract and role in the movie didn't entitle her to have billing on the poster?

No, it's not always about a slight, but it is about the appearances. Speaking as someone who has worked in public affairs and graphics for the better part of a decade, I clearly see the whys and how this looks bad especially since it could have been easily avoided.

    Neither.
Marvel loves messing with people. Remember Hulk running in Wakanda in the Infinity Stones trailer? Remember how that didn't happen in actual movie?

The whole thing with Black Widow's blond/red hair of varying length in the trailer is most DEFINITELY a misdirect. They are making fans trying to guess the timeline of events based on her hair length and color and whatever theories fans will come up with will most definitely be NOT how it goes down in the movie.

    Another potential lie:

Is it me or is Nebula's head a bit small for her body? And Stark's body a bit too skinny? This could be a misdirect that they are on Earth in this scene but could be doing something else entirely (still on the spaceship waiting to be rescued). And like I said before, do NOT go by Widow's hair. It's not going to help you with anything.

So I wonder if they're going to address the fact that Capt. Marvel hasn't aged in the 30 years between her movie and Endgame? I was expecting some explanation at the end of Capt. Marvel but it was never addressed. I guess at this point we can just assume her powers have stopped or slowed her aging.

I'm guessing it'll be some mumbo-jumbo about Kree blood.

Sam Jackson talked about her being able to time travel in an interview. Perhaps
the modified pager is capable of transmiting through time??

But more recently he also admitted that he lied a bunch in interviews about the film to throw off viewers. So take that claim with a heavy helping of salt.

It wasn't in the movie, but the second trailer had the Supreme Intelligence telling Carol she would live longer and stronger due to what the Kree did to her.
