Oh. Right. I forgot about that. I'm still hoping it's just a case of unaccounted for and not actually dusted since we didn't actually see her get dusted.
There was trolling going on in here alright, but none of it by me. I just didn't like the trailer. I was soooooooo hyped for this movie, and now I barely even want to see it.
Obviously there’s some precedence for misdirection in the trailer - omitted Spider-Man from the civil war running scene in the trailers - completely changed where Thor loses his hammer - two eyes for Thor in ragnarok lightning scene - gives two eyes to Thor in infinity war trailer - the forest scene in the infinity war trailer So I’m curious as to what we’ll ultimately see verses just for the trailer
I don't see those as intentional misdirection. Just continuity errors. They probably didn't know what happened in other movies when the trailer was made. Attention to detail is not something that the MCU is known for.
Spider-Man's absence, Thor's missing eye, and Mjolnir's destruction were obviously deliberate misdirections for the trailers themselves. To say otherwise is to be deliberately obtuse. And it's not like Marvel is the only one to employ such a tactic. To Samurai8472's point, I definitely expect at least a couple of our expectations to be subverted from the two trailers we've gotten.
I had assumed the change in setting for where Mjolnir was destroyed was a change that was made after the trailer came out, not purposeful misdirection. As for the others, they definitely were. Even in the Superbowl ad for Endgame, there was a scene where a bunch of the Avengers were all lined up, and there was a gap where they appeared to have removed someone.
