You're right. The right thing to do for a 2019 production like DSC would have been reusing prosthetics and make-up techniques from 50 years agoYou must be new to Discovery. Change for the sake of change is par for the course there.

What must all those aliens think about our puny foreheads? Those damn Ancient Humanoid loved that ridge DNA sequence.
We was robbed!!!! I want my ridge!!!!!!What must all those aliens think about our puny foreheads?

A burden we must all live with.We was robbed!!!! I want my ridge!!!!!!
idk, I havent seen it in 4k UHD yetIf it ain't broke, don't fix it. There's nothing wrong with that makeup.

Except that it would look super silly in our day, but who's counting?
nah, my screen is big enough. I don't need a microscopeLike that makes a difference? Do you go up to your flatscreen with a microscope looking for seams in the latex? Seriously, you're ridiculous.
Because it's outdated, and nobody except for a few die-hard TOS fans would watch that. How does it look silly? The gratuitous CGI veins look sillier than air bladders to me.
You don't need a microscope. One can see all sorts of things unintended by the make up artists from a chair a few feet away from the screen.Like that makes a difference? Do you go up to your flatscreen with a microscope looking for seams in the latex? Seriously, you're ridiculous.

It's on it's way to become my favorite thread around hereNice to know people are taking this thread seriously.
well now they do. the previous Talosians you saw were an illusion. Pike is still rolling around in Talosian burning mind hell for overdue library books and Vina likes to try on a total new look now and then.It was this picture and of course they're not Romulans! The original Talosians didn't have that ridge along their nose coming from their forehead though either!

What sweeping judgment? I was talking about a very specific effect in a specific episode. I don't care about the year, nor was I knocking the show. You even got the why wrong. Seems to me like you're the one prone to sweeping judgment calls. Cool it, mate. You haven't articulated why. Makeup really hasn't evolved much between then and now. The air bladders they used were actually really advanced for the day. The next time I saw something like that used was American Werewolf in London many years later. But no, we're just going to just look at the year it was made and make a sweeping judgment call: "outdated".
I love that transition from The Cage...yup. and the beauty is on youtube already
