I'm sorry, but the last episodes of Yamato crossed the boundaries of "fanservice" and stepped in the realm of pure sexism. I have to say that they made me a little uncomfortable.

    Spoiler-y things have surfaced:

    Episode 24:
    Help arrives and
Yamato sinks....in a good way this time.

Slightly more to the above scenes. from just before those scenes.

Namely, what Yamato did to Gatlantis

So, finished up the 2199 Blu-ray sets. Is there a Region A Blu-ray of Odyssey of the Celestial Arc?

The Japanese Blu-ray is Region Free for that film. And Japan is Region A to start with anyway.
(The only reason I bought a BD player in 2012 was because the Japanese Yamato 2199 discs were Region Free and had subtitles. I wanted it as soon as possible. It helps that regardless, Japan and North America are Region A.)

Plus it already has English subtitles.

Yep - althoough ith everything else Fuunimation has done WRT SBY:2199 and 2202, I'm surprised they (I'm assuming of course) didn't also get bthe rights to, and do Odyssey of the Celestial Arc; was there something unique about its production team/situation in Japan that would cause a North American rights issue?

Are you referring to "Ark of Stars", or something else?

"Ark of the Stars", yes. It has multiple correct translations for the title. "Ark of the Stars" is the easiest to type.

As for getting the rights to something. Film rights are a separate system from TV shows right. Thus it could be a different process for Funimation to get that film (it could be there are seeing how sales go for Star Blazers 2199 and 2202 before they commit to that film).

And preordered it, I am a sucker for the art books.

Plus the can fit both parts thing is nice, I mean the 2199 box will even fit part 2 if it’s in the slip cover thing.

Thanks very much. Yeah, I need to get back to these soon. Had some other projects take precedence recently.

No problem. Because I hyperfocus and have a little too much time on my hands, here's an even bigger album of reference stuff.

Those are REALLY nice! What books are those from? I recognize a couple of them, but many are things I've been looking for and never found. Could you post the covers of those books? I'd like to try to track them down to scan in higher resolution. Your photos are good but there's a lot of perspective distortion in many of them.

I'm not sure where many of the ones with 2202 ships are from- I found them on Japanese language websites. I would link to where the 2199 official art books are, but the site hosting them is decidedly NSFW. I can PM you the links if that would work.

I believe I have the two 2199 art books in question. Should be okay there, but thank you in any case. It's been detailed information on 2202 designs that have eluded me for months and I've had to piece things together, and sometimes create entire things from scratch just to get a cohesive finished product. There doesn't seem to be the wide-spread marketing with this season that there was with the last. Really hard to find things. If you can ever track down book covers that I can, in turn, get off of eBay, that would be ideal. Thanks again!

Oooh that looks *awesome*. I can't wait until I either get money of my own or scans of it start popping up online. Then I can start modeling things!

Ordered one of those for myself...Hopefully it will get here in a month or so, I'd like to have it for my next convention so I can show people what I'm talking about like I could when I got the 2199 Gamilas book years ago.

(Tax returns should pay for it easily enough.)
