Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

Probably just before release. It strikes me as being similar to the contract terms when I sell an original work of fiction to a magazine, say -- part of what they pay for is the exclusive publication rights for a finite period of time, so I can't republish the story elsewhere until the exclusivity period (which can be as little as a month after publication but is typically more like 6 or 12 months) has expired. So I doubt it's even an "embargo," just a normal exclusivity window, albeit a long-ish one.

 

I don't think 2 years is that long considering the prep work involved for starting up a new series, but I'm not a creator, just a viewer.

I also wonder whether the two year wait would refer to all shows or if it applies to each show individually. For example, Luke Cage is already over half a year old, and it has been nearly six months since Iron Fist was released.

 

If it's analogous to the exclusivity periods in my writing contracts as I mentioned up above, then it would be 2 years after the release of each distinct work.

 

The roadblocks in Brazil have been lifted. The Fox / Disney deal could be completed as early as March 8th.

Disney is apparently in active talks to purchase Warner Brothers share in Hulu.

Given Hulu's recent interest in Marvel properties, including the defunct Netflix shows, I thought that would be appropriate news to share here.

So what would Disney do with full control of Hulu, given that they have Disney+?

One possibility is more adult-centric content (similar to the Netflix shows). The question is, would they still allow the other networks to use the platform? If not, this would be a huge loss to the consumer market...

 

Apparently, Warner only has a 10% stake. Also, haven't I read that Warner's is planning to start up its own streaming service ala Disney and CBS?

Well I don't claim to have an infallible memory, I could swear that I read that once the Arrowverse shows leave Netflix, that they would be going to a Warner service rather than the DC service.

 

Ugh, I need to catch up before that happens.

I'm honestly surprised cable still exists at this point with so many steaming services popping up. What's worth even getting from cable anymore? AMC, FX, ESPN, a travel channel, and a cooking channel? I honestly don't know since I haven't had cable in many years.

 

AMC has a streaming service as does ESPN. For me it's only RSN's keeping me around.

 

So does the BBC. It's the only place to see classic Doctor Who anymore.

 

Oh, that's right, I knew ESPN had one, but I didn't know AMC had one.

So yeah...cable is going to be dead very soon.

Well, only CBS and AMC have streaming services for current shows AFAIK? Everything else is just original and vintage programming, but nothing from current seasons currently on TV?
